Te Mata make some sublime Bordeaux style red wines and we've been blessed in recent years with some outstanding vintages. This years release has wonderful floral aromas with intense blackberry, currant and dark plum flavours lead to a rich supple palate with a sustained finish.

Bethany Cabernet Merlot

The Bethany Cabernet Merlot from the Schrapel family's Bethany winery exhibits herbal blackberry and cherry flavours with subtle oak in the background. Drinking well now, but also can handle a little bit of medium term cellaring to really coax those soft, ripe tannins to infuse beautifully with its primary fruit.

DECOY BY DUCKHORN CALIFORNIA CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Co-founded by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn in 1976, Duckhorn Vineyards has spent nearly fifty years establishing itself as one of North America’s premier producers of Napa Valley wines. The Napa Valley Chardonnay comes from the coolest regions. In the cellar, techniques such as French oak barrel fermentation and lees stirring are employed, resulting in a Chardonnay that balances the complexity and richness of Napa Valley. 90% barrel fermented and 10% tank fermented, with 9 months of ageing in 40% new French oak barrels. This rich and radiant Chardonnay leaps from the glass with enticing aromas of nectarine, lemongrass, pear blossom and caramelised pineapple. The citrus and stone fruit layers are echoed on the silky palate where flavours of white peach, lemon zest and vanilla flow to a bright and zesty finish.

A nose of cassis and chocolate with a hint of tobacco. The palate is filled with irresistible mulberry fruit and the tannins are soft and velvety. An impressive effort from a Margaret River icon!

Woodlands Cabernet Merlot

Woodlands Cabernet Merlot is one of the regions best examples. The Watson brothers are the custodians of a family heritage in Margaret River that continues to this day. The Cabernet Merlot has attractive and complex aromas of dark berry and plum supported by well integrated vanillin oak. The palate shows similar characters with outstanding length of flavour and perfect balance. Drink now or cellar short term.

Forester Estate Cabernet Merlot

Always regarded as one of Margaret River's favourite wineries due to the inherant quality. Forester Estate seems to marry beautifully with their value-for-money philosophy. This Cabernet Merlot continues to win wide acclaim due to its dark purple colour and its lifted aromas of raspberries and black forest cake. Rich berry flavours are well balanced by a tight tannin structure typical of quality Margaret River Cabernets. The other great bonus is the ability of this great Cab blend to morph into a true cellar star.
