MERITE Merlot is a multi-clone blend that is built to showcase the qualities of these newer clones such as fine tannins and vibrancy. Our 2019 Merlot Single Vineyard has flavours of red currants, plum and dried herbs. An elegant red wine for the cool season. Tasting Notes Mid ruby red colour Intense red plum and raspberry aromas on the nose, with tobacco-like complexity. Medium body, suppleness, plump mid-palate. Red fruit flavour with hints of dried herbs. Finishes with fine, soft tannins and subtle oak.

We have to talk about the Elephant in the Room Merlot. An aromatic scent of ripe, red berries balanced by spice and earthiness is continued into the palate with a well-contained flavour explosion. The delightful finish makes this the perfect wine to enjoy with friends.

This juicy Merlot is made by Trophy-winning winemaker Nicolas Bizzarri. He heads up the team at the family owned Luis Felipe Edwards estate in premium Colchagua Valley. Smooth, rounded and full of lush plum charm, it provides amazing panache for your pound. In the 1970s, Luis Felipe Edwards Snr followed his dream and created his own wine estate. Today he owns his own small valley, where the climate is ideal for vines, and has a no expense spared cellar housed in colonial buildings on the estate. Built in the 16th century and situated in Barsac at about 30 kilometers from Bordeaux, Château Massereau was acquired by the Chaigneau family in 2000. A 19 hectare estate with 10 planted (6,600 – 7000 plants/hectare) in the Barsac, Graves and Bordeaux Superieur appellations. Château Massereau Bordeaux Supérieur 2018 is a blend of 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc & 10% Petit Verdot. Vinified in concrete vats for 4-8 weeks naturally without additional yeast, finings, filtration and low sulphite. The resulting wine is garnet in colour with an intense nose of black fruit, with hints of sweet spice and pepper.
