Escarpment Vineyard Te Rehua Pinot Noir

Te Rehua is the warmest and richest of the Escarpment vineyards, producing a classically structured Pinot Noir with ample volume of ripe red berry fruit. A single vineyard wine, the Te Rehua is sourced from the 1.1 ha Barton Vineyard anchored on the deep alluvial gravels of the Martinborough Terrace. The wine is fermented in traditional open topped wooden vats and regularly hand plunged before undergoing maturation in 30% new French oak for 12 months. The wine is fined but not filtered.

Domaine Thenard 1er Cru Clos Saint Pierre

Domaine Thénard 1er Cru Clos Saint Pierre Givry Clos Saint Pierre is a Premier Cru vineyard situated at the highest point on the hill etched with Thénards other holdings, all lying below. It is a monopole and thus, a point of pride. An east-facing aspect dominated by abundant clay, Clos Saint Pierre is a site that facilitates an attenuated ripening window, resulting in wines of complexity and a ferruginous carapace of tannins that demands time in the cellar to unravel. Youthful aromas encapsulate darker berry fruits, thyme and bergamot. With age, porcini, iodine and mulch come to the fore. As with the other Premier Cru cuvées at this address, extraction is long and the cuvaison extended and traditional. Under the aegis of ambient yeasts, fermentation takes place in large, wooden open-top vessels, many over 100 years of age. Élévage is in a combination of used barrels and larger foudres, generally for 18-22 months. The aim is to polymerise the tannins over time, imparting grace and elegance, while retaining Givrys signature structural mettle.

Novum Pinot Noir

An opulent Pinot Noir made from select parcels of fruit showcasing its Marlborough origin gloriously. An aromatic wine with black fruit and spice on the nose. The palate is rich, also with black fruit, but a hint of red fruit to add unexpected freshness.Textural and deep, this will age for up to ten years with grace (although its ready to enjoy now). The fruit is 100% destemmed then aged in 30% new oak. Novum use small parcels of fruit from specially selected sites on established Marlborough vineyards to craft the best wines and expressions of terroir possible. Their first vintage arrived in 2016. Novums primary focus is on Syrah, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
