Unmistakably, Grange, this 2012 vintage is complex, flamboyant and lifted. An aromatic multi-cultural characteristics. The earthiness is well integrated with the aromas of dark fruits, grounded coffee, red liquorice and black olives, which leads to a firmly structured finish.

Savoury details of pâté, green olive tapenade, salsa verde and espresso liqueur carry exceptional length. Succulent and velvety in texture, the wine is underpinned by even, mouth-coating tannins. A beautifully crafted wine that promises to reward patient cellaring. Immediately heady yet refined, offering layered aromatics of exotic spice and elegance. Black berry fruit sits alongside pastel confectionary notes, perfumed violets and lavender, with deeper accents of dark Belgian and Varona chocolate, roasted coffee bean, Brazil nut and pecan pie. Savoury nuances of bresaola, olives and lavosh add intrigue and depth. On further inspection, notes of walnut and mahogany polish arise.

The structure of Cabernet Sauvignon meets the richness of Shiraz. A benchmark Penfolds wine and one of the most collected wines in Australia. The 2024 Bin 389 combines Shiraz richness with Cabernet structure. Dark plum, blackcurrant and cassis lead to a medium-full palate of dark cherry, spiced oak and firm yet supple tannins. We have dated our family tree back to 1471, where Paolo Curtis started wine production on the original Curtis family property “la cavata” near cassino, central Italy. We made this wine to commemorate the sacrifice & toil of centuries of hard work that have led us to now. This Shiraz fruit was hand-picked from 80-year-old vines, gently destemmed & cold soaked on skins for 14 days, Fermented slowly for a further 14 days. Giving time to allow slow extraction of colour & silky tannins. This extra time allows the wine to develop a great depth of flavour & palate structure. The ferment is slowly pressed straight into a mixture of French & American oak barrels The magic happens over the next 24 months where the wine will develop and integrate into a special montage of flavourful delights. aromas of ripe red berries, vanilla & Coconut. Full-Bodied palate structure with a complex mix of flavours, Ripe red berries, coconut, chocolate & spice. Great middle palate sweetness with well-integrated oak characters. well balanced & long silky tannin finish.

Hand-picked from the top section of the 1891 Ancestor Vine block, the fruit was fermented in a two-tonne open fermenter and the skins were hand plunged three times a day. At sugar dryness the wine was drained off and the skins pressed. The resultant wine was transferred straight to barrel and matured for nearly two years in one new and two older French oak barriques. Elegant, restrained and poised. A wine of integrity and finesse. Red fruits following on the palate, fine French oak char and fine grain tannins.

Coming from one of the best vintages in recent Barossa history, the Old Block from St Hallett shows what careful vineyard management can do for a wine. Rich, dark and conerntrated but with seamless tannin intergration.
