Tempranillo

Bodegas LAN Culmen Reserva

The jewel in LAN’s crown. A Reserva made only in vintages that are classed as excellent from the most prestigious area of Viña Lanciano - Pago el Rincón. 87% tempranillo, 13% graciano. Pago El Rincón. Viña Lanciano. Bush vines (the traditional form) of 50-60 years of age. Hand harvested. The harvest at Pago El Rincón took place on the 6th of September. Winemaking and Ageing: Hand harvested in small baskets with a double selection table. Alcoholic fermentation in small truncated-cone shaped stainless steel tanks and malolactic conversion in very finegrained new French oak barrels from the Tronçais and Jupille forests. It then aged for 22 months in French oak barrels from the Tronçais and Jupille forests with two rackings to favour natural sedimentation to clarify the wine. Aged in bottle for 22 months. Tasting Notes: Colour: A very deep shade of cherry red. Nose: notes of blueberry, ripe cherry and blackcurrant with notes of forest floor, mint, black pepper and cinnamon on a floral background, intensified by the presence of Graciano, which adds great aromatic complexity to the Tempranillo. Mouth: Very flavourful, rounded, with structure and complextity that lead us to a long finish. Pairing: Red and grilled meats, spicy dishes. A perfect wine to enjoy with chocolate-based desserts.

Dominio De Pingus Flor de Pingus

Flor de Pingus is produced by the visionary Danish winemaker Peter Sisseck. Truffle-tobacco nose with sour cherry and fruitnnut tree aromatics, theres gamey beast-hide, and a purple storm raining minerals. Fine and radiant, with cool blue fruits - powder-tannined, nutty-inky-and-mineral in the mouth, this Tempranillo is Ribera del Duero from on high.

Marqués de Riscal Gran Reserva Rioja

Marqués de Riscal began with a dream back in 1858 and over 150 years later, the Bodega decided to commemorate the 150th Anniversary with a Gran Reserva Rioja that befitted the history and standing of such great wines. The result it this outstanding Tempranillo blend from the 2001 vintage, a truly special vintage in the Rioja region. Dark cherry in colour with complex aromas of balsamic, charred wood and layers of spices. The palate follows with a viscous mouthfeel with a good concentration of tannins and acid structure. A truly remarkable Rioja that pays a great tribute.

Bodegas Roda Roda Cirsion Tempranillo

There are minuscule volumes produced of the Cirsion by Bodegas Roda (the name of the thistle which is Roda's logo) which is made from grapes specially selected for the suppleness of the tannins they deliver. Parcels selected are from low-yielding older Tempranillo vines of 45 years and more, from four vineyards. Choosing the plants with the softest tannins, this makes the wine very attractive and supple early on, but it still has great ageing potential.

Artadi Vina El Pison, Rioja

The 2 ha El Pison vineyard was planted in 1945 on a gentle sloping site in the shape of an amphitheatre with deep sub-soils. Made entirely from Tempranillo, El Pison is a very rich and intense age-worthy style typically showing great purity of fruit and abundant chalky tannins that benefit from additional cellaring.
