Tempranillo

Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Rioja

Castillo Ygay Tempranillo from the famed Rioja region in Spain was one of the stars of the show at the recent Dan Murphy's Wines of the World Expo! Complex roasted chestnut/mocha/dark berry/leather fruit with superb richness, underlying savoury nuances and ripe chocolaty tannins. Although matured for 31 months in American oak, the oak and fruit integration is sublime.

La Rioja Alta Gran Reserva 904, Rioja

Artadi Quintanilla

TELMO RODRIGUEZ YJAR

Artadi San Lazaro

ARTADI San Lazaro , La Rioja DOCa Artadi San Lázaro is a structured, powerful, polished, well-integrated single-vineyard wine. The Tempranillo is sourced from vines planted in 1956 on marginal clay-limestone soil of clay-sand. The juice is vinified in wooden open-top vats with cold maceration for 24-48 hours and fermentation during 10-12 twelve days before being aged for 10 months in French oak barrels.

Artadi Vina El Pison, Rioja

The 2 ha El Pison vineyard was planted in 1945 on a gentle sloping site in the shape of an amphitheatre with deep sub-soils. Made entirely from Tempranillo, El Pison is a very rich and intense age-worthy style typically showing great purity of fruit and abundant chalky tannins that benefit from additional cellaring.

Artadi La Hoya, La Rioja

Dominio De Pingus Flor de Pingus

Flor de Pingus is produced by the visionary Danish winemaker Peter Sisseck. Truffle-tobacco nose with sour cherry and fruitnnut tree aromatics, theres gamey beast-hide, and a purple storm raining minerals. Fine and radiant, with cool blue fruits - powder-tannined, nutty-inky-and-mineral in the mouth, this Tempranillo is Ribera del Duero from on high.

MARQUES DE MURRIETA DALMAU

Sourced from a 9 hectare single vineyard planted in 1950 called Canajas, located at 465m above sea level. Stylistically, Dalmau is the most modern of the red wines from Marques de Murrieta and is named after owner Vincente Dalmau Cebrián-Sagarriga. The 2019 vintage has received 97 points from James Suckling, Tim Atkin, and 98 points from Wine Enthusiast Magazine. 86% Tempranillo, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Graciano, with 20 months in French oak and 6 months in concrete vats prior to bottling. Intensely scented nose with hints of blueberries, red plum, thyme, cedar and black pepper. Splendid palate, wide and well-defined with a long juicy finish. A seductive blend of strength and finesse. “The clearest expression of Canajas single-vineyard nature; a Dalmau with strong character, more concentrated and expressive compared to its predecessors.” - María Vargas, Technical Director.

CVNE Imperial Gran Reserva Rioja

Centred in the historic town of Haro in the Rioja Alta sub-region, the Imperial winery is named after a special bottling run for the English market, in a bottle known as the Imperial Pint. These days, the winery still applies artisinal winemaking techniques in their facilities, built by renowned French architect Gustave Eiffel in 1909. A blend of 85% Tempranillo, and 15% Graciano, Mazuelo, and Garnacha. Typical Rioja Alta Tempranillo notes of liquorice, blackberry, and dark cherry, supported by cigar box, chocolate, and caramel. Fine, gentle flavours build into a deep, rich complex finish with gentle chalky tannins. A complex wine with great balance between power and elegance.
