Kim Crawford Small Parcels Sauvignon Blanc is a true expression of the complexities Marlborough has to offer. Although the harvest was smaller than anticipated, the vintage is being hailed as exceptional across Marlborough. Favorable weather conditions allowed the vines to ripen perfectly, this resulted in excellent ripeness, with wines showcasing impressive flavour intensity and depth. The wine reveals intense, lifted aromatics tropical fruit that lead into a range of complex flavours, including distinct mineral and flinty notes accenting its rich hefty palate that last through a clean, crisp finish.

A relative newcomer to Margaret River, Flametree have already hit several home runs. This wine is another hit, with a fresh mix of citrus and stonefruits, zingy acidity and clean finish.

It's made by an award-winning family winery, who were some of the first pioneers of the Marlborough region. Phil and Chris Rose founded the estate back in 1978, now their five children have joined them, so it's very much a family affair. Their Sunday Bay is a classic Sauvignon. Exuberant grapefruit and grassy nettle character with a bright citrus zip; all the usual Marlborough pizzazz and more. It’s very moreish solo or makes the perfect partner to all sorts of seafood, spicy stir-fry or Thai fish cakes.

Brightwater is from a tiny family estate our Buyer first visited in 2002, having noticed that famous Aussie wine writer James Halliday had reviewed their Sauvignon above Cloudy Bay. Their 2009 was also rated as 5 Stars by top Kiwi wine critic Bob Campbell MW. A classic match with goat's cheese, it's also just the ticket with seafood, especially oysters. Alternatively, enjoy as a refreshing glass on its own.

"This has been a distinctive and complex style from Willow Bridge over a number of years, and this one, from a very good vintage, is as good as I have seen. Made traditionally with whole bunch pressing, wild fermentation, and then three months in French oak. It adds texture and complexity, but in this case, it's certainly not overdone. The vibrant fruit characters of these two varieties still emerge. Slightly smoky, lemon zest notes on the nose, and a palate that's rich and textured with excellent length. Mike Bennie gives it 91pts, writing in The Halliday Wine Companion: "The barrel seasoning works a treat here, layering in ginger biscuit, cinnamon toast and creamy nougat notes on the more expected sweet citrus, light tropical fruit punch notes of the two varieties. There's a little chalkiness to texture, a brightness of saline minerality in there, too.
