Blend 3 is our traditional blend, which combines the 3 Nebbiolo clones we have growing at Pipan Steel Wines. It takes the structure of Clone 7 and layers the perfume of Clone 9 with the savouriness of Clone 10, producing a complex satisfying Nebbiolo. Drink it with dishes as delicate as a broth through to rich slow cooked pork.Blend 3 was voted first consensus pick in the Young Gun of Wine Spotlight on Nebbiolo blind tasting in July 2019.

Durif originated in the Rhône Valley of France, but has been grown in Rutherglen for over a century. Its a variety that tends to make rather bold wines, like this beauty! Deep red black. Super-rich black cherry cola with iodine and prune. Palate equally intense with lashings of inky dark plum, prune and dark cherry, satiny and rounded mouthfeel, espresso-like tannins and plenty of charry oak. Sweet, rich and ripe.

Our Durif is grown on the De Bortoli Shelley’s vineyards on the eastern edge of the Rutherglen region. The site has an interesting gravel, clay and alluvial soil mix with different aspects which helps generate different flavour profiles. Deep dark brooding red with vibrant red hues. This Renaissance Durif has balanced dark berry, chocolate, and licorice with the integrated oak. The grainy tannins are lip coating and are integrated into the soul of the wine. The wine has intensity and power which lingers long after tasting. Complex aromas of dark berries, plums, prunes, licorice with nuances of dried tobacco.

The pride of Michelini stable, this Merlot was sourced from the mature Buckland vineyard. On the nose it offers violet fruit characters supported by vanilla oak and a solid mid palate weight and flavour with soft fruit tannins and firm oak finish.
