The solera has been the recipient of barrels from the Rare Muscat solera, emptied but not washed so influence coming from remaining wine in the bottom of the barrels; not as much influence imparted as in the Old Vine Muscadelle situation. pen-fermented, 35% whole bunches, 2% viognier skins. Matured in 600L thick staved demi-muids. The bones are strong, the flavours are fine. There's nothing brutish about this wine, it's not rocket-propelled, and yet it pushes firmly for the stars. It tastes of graphite and black coffee, black cherries and white pepper, though what you really notice here is the wine's supple, spicy insistence and its fine web of tannin. This wine is going places.

Our Durif is grown on the De Bortoli Shelley’s vineyards on the eastern edge of the Rutherglen region. The site has an interesting gravel, clay and alluvial soil mix with different aspects which helps generate different flavour profiles. Deep dark brooding red with vibrant red hues. This Renaissance Durif has balanced dark berry, chocolate, and licorice with the integrated oak. The grainy tannins are lip coating and are integrated into the soul of the wine. The wine has intensity and power which lingers long after tasting. Complex aromas of dark berries, plums, prunes, licorice with nuances of dried tobacco.
