Fresh blackberry and boysenberry, spice, liquorice, tar and dried herbs. Medium bodied, juicy bramble fruits, crisp boysenberry acidity, salted beef, firm but fine grained drying tannin, and a long fresh meaty herb infused finish.

Teusner Albert Shiraz is made from old vines in the northern Barossa; rich black fruits and tarry cassis with smoky undertones, the finish is long and luscious. Could easily be cellared for the medium term.

Grenache has long been a stalwart of the South Australian wine scene and Penfolds have been blending Grenache with Shiraz since the 1950's. Recent years has seen a growing trend for the luscious perfumed styles like those emanating out of the northern Rhône and the Bin 138 produces a brilliant example. The perfect counterpoint to its other half in the Hentley Farm stable, The Beast, The Beauty is made from cooler climate Shiraz and co-fermented with a dollop of Viognier. Utterly seductive like some dark pool calling you to dive in, it is complex, elegant and aptly named.

Torbreck's Woodcutter's Shiraz is produced from hand-tended low-yielding vines. Bold and hearty it shows ripe sweet fruit flavours with supple tannins. Has quickly become a firm favourite of all the full-bodied Barossa red wine lovers out there.

William Randell is Thorn Clarkes flagship Shiraz named in honour of William Richard Randell, a 19th century family ancestor and distinguished Australian pioneer. A full bodied rich and spicy style with ripe plum and cassis, sweet coconut oak and plentiful grainy tannins, it has the structure and concentration to reward long term cellaring. The Shiraz is sourced from estate owned vineyards in the Barossa Valley. Vinification takes place in small open top fermenters, manually pumped over and then transferred into 40% new American oak for up to 16 months.

Dutschke Oscar Semmler Shiraz is a wonderfully well structured and flavoursome Shiraz. Rich Barossa Valley flavours of red fruits, currants and bold mocha/chocolate. Can be appreciated now or as a more complex wine by further cellaring.
