A relatively new addition to the Wynns stable to compliment the Coonawarra Cabernet Shiraz Merlot and the Coonawarra Shiraz, The Siding Cabernet Sauvignon brings lovely varietal and regional character in a Cabernet that is approachable on release, but also benefits from a few years in the medium term cellar. According to chief winemaker, Sue Hodder, The Siding Cabernet Sauvignon aims to deliver a leading affordable Cabernet that showcases exceptional varietal and region characteristics of red cherry, mint and dark berry flavours, while an array of gentle tannins will further reward from short to medium term cellaring.

John Riddoch (1827 - 1901) is the man responsible for putting Coonawarra on the map after establishing the Coonawarra Fruit Colony in 1891. Today, Coonawarra and its famous 'terra rossa' strip of limestone rich soil is home to some of Australia's greatest Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards. This Riddoch Cabernet is an exciting expression of the region with its deep purple colour, spicy plum, chocolate and toasty vanillan aromas which are followed by a luscious palate of blueberry and accompanying eucalypt accented spice.

John Riddoch is not only a famous name in the region of Coonawarra, but an important figure in the Australian wine industry. His pioneering spirit and love of the region has been translated into this bottle of rich and smooth Coonawarra Merlot. Aromas and flavours of ripe plums, dense blueberry and a fine grain tannin structure to support. A welcome return from a highly regarded wine name that won't disappoint if opened today or cellared for the short to medium term.

This striking, inky-purple Cabernet Sauvignon is a Coonawarra classic. It has intense aromas of blackcurrant, mint, and eucalyptus. It is full and ripe with layers of forest fruit and dark chocolate flavours. Great with aged steak and roast vegetables. Whats the importance of the number 570? Thats the number of vines that were first transported to our shores in 1832. They have been collected from Spain and France for the purpose of starting the first vineyards in Australia. Once the vines arrives, they were put into the care of a studious botanist we have nicknamed The Tutor. We were inspired by his story and this wine series pays homage to his careful observation and documentation. Cheers to 'The Tutor'.

Rufus was a beloved Hereford bull from the Reschke stud and was treated like one of the family. The same soils that Rufus presided now produce some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon in the country. This elegant, fruit driven wine that will age beautifully if cellared with care. Estate grown and low cropping created a Cabernet with a perfectly balanced palate of intense blackcurrant and cassis with hints of chocolate and eucalypt and a hint of cedary oak. Supported by silky tannins and balanced acidity, this wine is simply amazing value.

Cleanskin #63 Coonawarra Cabernet follows the remarkable trend of our Cleanskins being far too good for the price on offer. Good varietal Cabernet with flavours of cassis, mint and baked blackcurrant. Varietal Cabernet Sauvignon from the icon region for the variety does come around often. Get in!

A Coonawarra Merlot is worth pausing for and this one is no different. From the Riddoch vineyard, this Cabernet Merlot has spicy chocolate and plum aromas and smooth, supple tannins. This flavoursome Merlot can be enjoyed straight away or aged for three to five years.

Cabernet’s dark and brooding deeply delved impenetrable black purple.Classic cabernet again: blackberries and cassis, a distant waft of tomato foliage and of green tobacco leaf; duxelle mushrooms and a sawdusted butcher’s shop floor. The berry flavours still sweep through the palate, but as quickly as they do the innate tannins of cabernet dry every aspect of your mouth out, and that returning acidity makes everything then taste as fresh and new as the first day of Spring. Definitive cabernet sauvignon flavours and structure, but all too approachable. And that approachability makes this red wine too moreish. The tannins want foods with fat and or a pleasant oiliness. Lamb chops cooked over charcoal. A slowly roasted shoulder of lamb. Kebab and falafel. We would. Oh, and this bottle requires four like or even dis like minded people with four appetites and four correct attitudes towards luncheon.
