Penola is one of the original producers in Coonawarra and they have a long and healthy track record with their Cabernet. Padthaway on the South Australian Limestone Coast is a long, thin wine region not far north from the famous red wine region of the Coonawarra. The region benefits from a moderate Mediterranean climate and cooling ocean breezes that roll through. However, it can get quite warm during the day, much like the Barossa. The boldness and body of the warmer climate peppery Shiraz meets the lifted aroma of violets of the Touriga Nacional. The tannins have a touch of grippiness. All up, it’s an opulent, lush red.
