One of the very few examples of Carignan produced in Australia. This is the first release of this wine from Hither & Yon and it's really approachable already.Bright purple in the glass. Perfumed nose of black cherry, plum and black pepper. Light to medium weight with a fresh core of fleshy black fruits and tart red berries with good balance of acid and tannin crunch. An excellent young-drinker.

Château Le Grand Verdus, with 115 hectares of vineyards, maintains a winery in the heart of the hills of Entre Deux Mers, 20km east of Bordeaux, near Saint-Emilion. Interestingly, the wine is unoaked. This allows the fruit full expression. With rich, round pleasant aromas, this wine reflects an intelligent blend of the vines of Grand Verdus. It is intense with the fragrance of red fruits, exotic spices and liquorice - instantly pleasurable. Domaine de la Rouvière Côtes de Provence Rosé is based on a blend of cinsault, grenache and syrah and derives from vineyards around Pierrefeu du Var, about 30 kilometres from Toulon and about an hours drive from St Tropez. The rocky landscape dominated by the Massif de Maure is typically undulating with pine forests and a large expanse of vineyards; many on south facing slopes. The warm Mediterranean growing season followed by night harvesting lead to optimum fruit ripeness and retention of acidity. Cool-vinification preserves fruitiness, freshness and transparency. The beautifully packaged Domaine de la Rouvière Rosé possesses a pretty light pink colour, attractive strawberry red cherry, raspberry aromas, plentiful fresh fruit flavours and crisp acidity. It works well as an aperitif with olive tapenade or anchovies on toast. Or pair with summer salads, charcuterie, grilled fish or BBQ meats.
