A blend of 72% Grenache, 22% Mataro and 6% Shiraz matured in French oak for 10 months of varying ages. Deep dark red core with black shaded edges and a vibrant red hue. Spicy dark raspberry and red liquorice aromas mingle with fresh herb, graphite and pepper notes. Juicy dark raspberry, liquorice and dark cherry fruits flood the mouth with scorched earth and peppered herb elements lying underneath. The Torbreck Les Amis Grenache is aged for 18 months in new oak and is a remarkably fragrant wine that shows abundant aromas of spice, cherry and wild raspberry. Textured and plush on the palate, it evolves into layers of blackberry and red currants with firm, ripe tannins. David Powell continues to lead this formidable Barossa wine estate to truly remarkable heights.

This wine is only made when vintage conditions permit, typically in the cooler/wetter years. The fruit is sourced from a single 100-year-old vineyard in Greenock, Barossa Valley from Grenache and Mataro fruit. After crushing the free-run juice is bled off into two large old wooden puncheons and fermented for six weeks. It is then fined with egg whites and stabilized for immediate bottling. Only 100 dozen of this wine is produced.

Powell & Son Brennecke Seppeltsfield Barossa Valley Grenache Powell & Son (first vintage 2014) is the venture of Barossa Valley legend Dave Powell and his son Callum. This Grenache comes from organically-grown vines that date back to the early 1900s on a site in the north-western corner of the Seppeltsfield sub-district of the Barossa Valley. The Brennecke vineyards dry-grown, untrellised bush vines are anchored in heavy red clay over limestone subsoils. These factors translate to excellent palate structure and a firm tannin backbone in the finished wine. The wine is multi-layered with complex flavours red fruits, cedar, spices, hints of vanilla and cinnamon. The palate typically shows a sleek tannin profile supporting a red-fruited core of cherry and cranberry. Maturation in 100% new French oak barriques also makes a contribution. This is a powerful Grenache style with an opulent feel, ripe, fruit-sweet spice and a long finish. It is concentrated but typically has an appealing underlying freshness.

MUNDA WINES Ngadjuri and Peramangk Country Grenache, Barossa Valley, Eden Valley Munda chooses minimal intervention in the winery, and prefers to bottle relatively early to reflect the brightness of their wines. The use of wild ferment, a combination of older French oak and stainless steel for maturation gives the wine pretty and immediately expressive, multi layered aromas of raspberry, dried cherries, lifted spices and rhubarb. Medium bodied with layers of tannins and savoury earthy flavours balanced with textured waves of spicy fruit. Complex, soft on the palate with a fineness and elegance counterbalanced with generosity and depth of texture that speaks of its munda (land or country).

The inspiration from the Barossas best old vine Grenache vineyards created Annexus, an addition to the John Duval's Plexus blend. Annexus is a small unique blend selected from their best old low yielding Grenache vineyards, made only in the best years.

The 1850s Grenache, as the name suggests, has fruit that comes from vines that date back over 160 years. Truly remarkable flavours of red fruit, earth and leather notes. An old world feel comes from a glass of this new world Grenache.

This spicy Barossa blend is based on fruit from mature Grenache vines. Ripe plum aromas jump out of the glass and the palate is rich and fruity with velvety tannins providing a lingering finish.
