Pouring a delicate salmon-pink, it opens with lovely rose petal and berry aromas, leading to a fresh, succulent palate where gentle fruit sweetness meets a crisp, lively finish. Former Gourmet Traveller WINE Viticulturist of the Year, the Chalmers family is renowned as Australia's key pioneer with so-called "alternative varieties", as grapevine importers, growers and cheerleaders of so many Mediterranean grapes that are enjoying great demand nowadays. In 2017 Chalmers once again sourced the grapes for their rosato from the highest altitude, most prized block at their Heathcote site. For the first time, though, all three of the varieties planted there made it into this unique blend. Aglianico (63%), Sagrantino (33%) and Nero d'Avola (4%) were hand-picked, whole bunch-pressed, and vinified separately.

The name of this wine, STUDIO by Miraval, was not chosen by chance. In 1977, jazz musician Jacques Loussier, the owner of the estate at the time, had a recording studio built there, and hosted international artists of the caliber of Pink Floyd, The Cure, Muse, AC/DC, Wham, Sting, The Cranberries, Rammstein, Chris Rea, and French artists such as Indochine, Telephone, and Bashung. Turning their back on the famous studios of London and elsewhere, they came for the quality of the sound but also for the inspiration procured by this place that the current owners firmly intend to preserve.
