Barbera can be a bit of a chameleon, so let's set the record straight immediately; this wine falls into the pure-fruited, punchy, lighter bodied, good-times category. Pure, black cherry, raspberry, nettle and anise aromas and flavours - perfumed and engaging - it has both sweet and savoury notes and more than enough structure to keep the palate fresh. It also showcases the finesse that is so typical of Massolino's wines. Matured in stainless steel and concrete tanks, this wine hails from a 2.2-hectare limestone-rich vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba where the vines are between 10 and 35 years of age.

Woodlands Cabernet Merlot is one of the regions best examples. The Watson brothers are the custodians of a family heritage in Margaret River that continues to this day. The Cabernet Merlot has attractive and complex aromas of dark berry and plum supported by well integrated vanillin oak. A riserva wine which highlights the quality this region can achieve. The nose shows dark fruit with meaty notes, and the palate is textured with persistent, powdery tannins. A superb food wine.

There's a world of delicious Italian whites to discover, including Soave. Made from Garganega it has a complex palate of nectarines and wet stones plus zingy acidity. Exciting and hugely different.
