Badiola is a winery in the heart of Rioja Alavesa. Founded in 2018 by acquiring an existing winery, Badiola offers village and single vineyard wines that display the freshness, elegance and depth of flavours which distinguish Rioja Alavesa. Made from high quality fruit from hilltop (Cabezadas) vineyards on limestone soils, this is an elegant, dry white wine with delicate aromas, which do not overpower food.

Our Tempranillo offering is a mid-weight wine, visually appealing with a gorgeous ruby-red hue. The wine is soft and inviting, with hints of cherry and clove on the palate. This is a lighter style Tempranillo, rarely experienced outside of Spain. A delicate wine, showing balance between earth and fruit with gentle tannins that linger.

Fresh cherries and red berries on the nose followed by a palate that is savory and silky. Minimal use of oak lets the luscious fruit and crunchy acid shine while being balanced by soft, chalky tannins.

Intense deep garnet. Subtle and direct to the nose. Predominantly red fruits. Very young wine with a lot of Spanish personality, first honest hit of fruit and astringency typical of the red wines.Well-balanced, structured and mediuml-bodied evolution. Very persistent. Aftertaste of fruit and morello cherry.

Madrugador [Spanish-English. Early Riser] is an acknowledgement of this early ripening variety; Tempranillo. Its fruit is known for being picked at the early part of vintage producing a medium-bodied wine we find intriguing and gets our taste buds excited! This rendition delivers rich Plum, Fig and Red Cherries a dynamite contrast of flavours complemented by signature cedar-like tannins

Tempranillo and Graciano grown on the red soils of the Hilltops region near Young, NSW; were vinified seperately before blending and matuaration. The savoury and smooth Tempranillo is complimented by the spicey fruit and structure of Graciano, the resultant wine has greater intensity, depth and length.

This wine is elegant with considerable finesse, nuanced rose petal, blueberry, wild strawberry, vanilla, ground clove, graphite, and Marjoram. Al dente tannins

Aaron Mercer's new self-named venture is going from strength to strength, and is delivering some exceptional wines from across NSW, in this case Hilltops Tempranillo.Bright, deep purple. Youthful black cherry, blood plum, plum, pepper and cedar box. Crisp and refreshing entry, in a medium-bodied frame, with supple red fruit flavours, silken tannin structure, vibrant red berry acidity and good complexity throughout.

A cheeky, fun name for a mighty tasty tempranillo that doesn't take itself too seriously. Lays the foundations with deep-purple hues and a bouquet of sunny blackberries, cherry, red licorice and vanilla with a kick of spice. It fairly bounces in the mouth, but there is a serious side, too, with a solid concentration of fruit and structure built around well-crafted tannins. Deep, rich and endlessly expressive, it’s a wine that feels both nostalgic and luxurious. It’s got that old-world charm too, a stunning example of traditional Rioja. The wondrous complexity of aged Rioja is pure magic in a glass. It’s deep, opulent and wildly evocative all at once. This ‘reserva’ from Bodegas Altanza had the benefit of extended ageing before release, making sure all its components were perfectly integrated and beautifully assembled. This one reminds us of Nana’s Christmas Pudding. There’s all that compact, dried fruity flavour, enriched with winter spices and no holds barred brandy infusion. There’s more, too. Chocolate, allspice, tobacco, jamon iberico… we could go on! There’s room for more time in the cellar too - nice to know there’s no rush here. Yum.
