Under Wraps Beaujolais Gamay

Vignoble Aucoeur is the oldest family domain of the Morgon village, in the heart of Beaujolais. Arnaud Aucoeur has been voted 2020 Winemaker of the Year by the famous Guide Hachette in France. Delimited in 1924, the “Moulin à Vent” vineyard is mainly made up of shallow granite soils. Rich in manganese, this terroir brings a lot of richness to the wine. The wines are often compared with their cousins of theCôte d’Or in Burgundy. This wine offers a pleasant and balanced nose. It is warm, ripe and powerful on the mouth, withblack-currant flavours, and supported with beautiful tannins.

Emblem of their know-how and their family heritage, this Morgoncombines richness with a perfumed fruitiness. It has fine tannins and layers of juicy blackberry fruits. It shows both the structured and the fruity side of the appellation in a balanced framework, and is the perfect expression of tradition combined with modernity.

Domaine Anita Fleurie Poncié Gamay

We are big fans of Domaine Anita here at Mofo HQ. Winemaker Anita Kuhnel crafts immaculately precise single vineyard wines that show off some of the most spectacular parts of Beaujolais. This gorgeous Fleurie is extremely concentrated but like pure silk on the palate - one of our favourites from the collection. Fleurie might be famed for its charm, but this bottling takes things up a notch. Concentrated and expressive, yet gliding across the palate with surprising lightness, it shows exactly why this cru is regarded as one of Beaujolais’ most captivating. The nose bursts with sour cherry and black cherry, lifted and precise. The palate is sleek and medium-bodied, carried by fine tannins and a cool, mineral edge that keeps everything beautifully balanced. A long, velvety finish leaves a final flourish of cherry fruit, echoing the aromas from the very first swirl of the glass. Made mostly from whole-cluster fruit to lock in freshness, this is Fleurie with both brightness and depth. Drink now for its vivid fruit or cellar for added complexity.

Domaine Anita Moulin à Vent 'Les Caves' Très Vieille Vigne

We are big fans of Domaine Anita here at Mofo HQ. Winemaker Anita Kuhnel crafts immaculately precise single vineyard wines that show off some of the most spectacular parts of Beaujolais. From 80 year old vines jsut near Mâcon, this one's all about pristine fruit and those famous granite soils from which it was born. This is the kind of wine that stops you mid-sip. Sourced from revered old vines, it carries serious depth, but what really makes it remarkable is the restraint and finesse with which that power is delivered. Silky, slick and precise, its personality is gentle and polite, rather than booming. The nose is lifted with delicate spice and aromas of red roses, while the medium-bodied palate holds a fine-grained texture, almost as if you can taste the granite soils themselves. A good proportion of whole-cluster fermentation adds aromatic lift, while maturation in two-thirds concrete tank and one-third seasoned Burgundian barrels preserves purity and minerality. The finish is emphatically dry, dramatic in its mineral freshness, and altogether compelling. Awarded 96 points by James Suckling, this is a wine that'll reward patience but is more than ready for some immediate enjoyment. Drink now, or watch it evolve beautifully over time.
