Small parcels of the best quality fruit from across top regions in South Australia were chosen for this Reserve Durif – and it shows! The wine is named after a type of cattle (Hereford/ Shorthorn cross) bred for the harsh conditions of Australia’s far north, and has been crafted with steak in mind. So popular, the cellar outgrew its original home and, for a few years, it moved from shed to shed. Finally it bought its own vineyard and built a state-of-the-art, off-grid, solar-powered eco winery. There is something a little magical about Australian Shiraz. All that rich, luscious, dark and velvety Shiraz fruit, topped up by the signature Aussie spice and punch... yum! This one comes from the makers of our bestselling, famous 'The Black Pig' - so you know it will be good! It's a rich spice-fest with layered fruit, soft, velvety tannins and superb balance. This is a wine that you can drink on its own but will be equally good with food.

Sourced from a number of old vineyards in the Riverland and McLaren Vale, some of which are dry grown bush vines. Aromatic and lifted on the nose with a beautifully layered, textural palate with wild strawberry and spice. Vinified in small batches, separately. Wild ferments, whole bunch inclusion, larger oak and no filtration or fining define the natural character of the wine.

A deep ruby red the wine displays rich vegetative, earthy characters, with a hint of pepper and spice. The full-bodied palate brims with spicy mulberry fruits and a fine tannin structure with a hint of musk and a fresh, balanced acidity giving a long lingering finish. No preservatives to this wine to produce a young, fresh and vibrant red to be consumed in its youth. Perfect with any steak, even a Tempeh Steak!

It’s 100% grown in South Australia, but as winemaker Steve Grimley says, this lavish wine is Italy meets Portugal Down Under. It blends Italy’s famous Nero d’Avola (40%) and Sangiovese (10%), with Portugal’s Touriga (20%), adding in luscious Durif (20%) and inky Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). (Yes, Durif and Cabernet were originally French, but they’ve been here long enough to be considered true blue Aussies, so we’re not going to quibble.) “No fewer than 4 varieties join forces in this tiny-batch red.
