AMELIE & CHARLES SPARR Brand Grand Cru Gewurztraminer, Wettolsheim 2017 Grown on granitic soils at an elevation of 380 metres, this Grand Cru Gewurztraminer is made from 60 year old vines that are managed according to the Ecocert certification. Weighing in at a powerful 15.5% alcohol, this is a majestic wine of rare depth and complexity. Powerful aromas of lychee and rose captivate the senses, while the warm, rounded palate leaves a long and lasting impression.

Awarded with a “Coup de cœur" (= favourite) prize by the 2018 guide of prestigious "Revue des vins de France", the Domaine Emile Beyer is a true rising star in the Alsace region. In Eguisheim (Alsace) since 1580, Emile Beyer has preserved family know-how for 14 generations. Christian and Valérie Beyer now manage this 17 hectares estate, half of which is located on the Grands Crus and Lieux-dits hillsides. The soil is a living environment and a source of energy for the vines. By taking care of their terroirs, Domaine Emile Beyer promotes the balance of the vine and preserve the subtility and unique character of Alsacian wines. All the Alsatian grape are present in the vines: riesling, gewurztraminer, pinots (white, gray and black), muscat, sylvaner and even, for Crémants, chardonnay and auxerrois. The estate uses sustainable farming practices and is in conversion to organic. All Grand Crus are in conversion Demeter (biodynamic).

Escarpments Pahi Pinot Noir is a soft supple fruit-forward style sourced from the single 2.5 hectare McCreanor vineyard in Martinborough. The vines are anchored on the gravel and clay soils of the Martinborough Terrace. Fermentation takes place in open topped wooden vats with regular plunging followed by maturation in 30% new French oak for 12 months.

Dense, intense and quite powerful pinot noir, with a core of sweet fruit balanced by moderately rustic tannins to give a drying and lengthy finish. Dark fruits with savoury, dried herb characters adding extra complexity. Only one litre of Soul is obtained from every 33 litres of fermented sugarcane that is processed. An un-aged non-charcoal-filtered cachaca that is stored in stainless steel vats. Pure and crystal clean, its a high grade cachaca with a distinctive bouquet.
