The Spanish fieasta is here – crack out the Tempranillo (tem-prah-ni-yo) and serve up the chorizo. My forefathers were from Spain, but I am a local through and through. I grew up in the Canberra region and my grapes were carefully picked by hand, only the best will do so naturally I was aged in French oak. I have a curvaceous medium body, a rich mouth feel and plum fruit flavours with earthy hints of mature spice and black tea tannin.

Nick O'Leary Seven Gates Tempranillo - Situated in the picturesque Hall Valley, in the Murrumbidgee River corridor, just outside the ACT, the Nick O'Leary estate incorporates a modern winemaking facility and a mature five hectare vineyard. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot has developed into a multi-layered wine which shows perfumed flavours of berries and blackcurrant from the Cabernet Sauvignon and cherries and plum from the Merlot. The blend has a lush texture and tannins that give the wine a very smooth mouth-feel.

Our Merlot is full of fruit flavours, yet a smooth and soft wine. With a deep purple colour, it has a nose of sweet plum and vanilla. It displays a rich spectrum of plum and spiced berries fruits and a lingering finish of warm spices.

Made from Merlot this wine has been carefully liquered and disgorged after 5 years to produce an opulent sparkling with complexity and a fine bead.
