Wolfberger Alsace Yellow Riesling has become quite a favourite amongst our first Choice customers. Refreshing, yet racy on the mouth, this is a wine with lovely fruit flavours and a long finish. It's unlike what you've come to expect from Australian Rieslings with a touch of residual sweetness on the finish making it perfect with shellfish and sushi.

Over a century ago, in 1902, winegrowers in the village of Eguisheim decided to join forces to create one of the worlds first cooperatives in Alsace. United as one, pioneers in their field, they are continually innovating in order to preserve the quality of their wines. Today, Wolfberger is a major player in the Alsace wine landscape, in France and around the world. This golden pale Gewurztraminer shows a very expressive note with subtle notes of sweet spices (cinnamon, cardamon) and exotic fruits (mango, papaya and guava). Rich and powerful on the palate, this wine presents a great complexity: supple and ample and finishes on persistent aromatic flavours of spice and mango. Perfect match to Asian cuisine, sweet and sour dishes, strong cheeses, tarts and fruit based desserts.

Dopff is a traditional Alsacian producer of quality table and sparkling wines. This fine stylish Riesling is delicately perfumed with both honeysuckle and citrus aromas. A tight palate follows with just the right amount of sweetness to give a textured mouthfeel with green apple and lime flavours. The finish is crisp, clean and racing. A bargain Riesling for those new to the variety and a steal for those who already know the beguiling beauty Riesling is.

From one of the shining lights among producers in the Languedoc-Roussillon region in the South of France comes this incredibly generous Chardonnay. Big rich stone fruit characters complimented by some textured malo mouth feel.

Dopff is a historical Alsace producer of quality table and sparkling wines. Such a connection with the terroir of the region can be seen in this lively and exciting Gewurztraminer that displays lychee and rose petals that fill the nose. The palate is classically varietal with hints of Turkish delight and a long spicy finish. Quite simply the perfect wine match to chilli-driven spicy Asian cuisine.

As the vines have aged, the monopole Clos de Rougemont, from a small vineyard close to Tours, has even greater depth of flavour, and a delicious long dry finish. It is planted on pure limestone soil and vinified in barrel with a tiny proportion of new oak. A truly stellar Vouvray!

From the Loire Valley in France, this Domaine des Amoureux Muscadet Sur Lie is one worth celebrating. A burst of florals and citrus hits the nose, followed by a delicate pairing of lemon and white flowers on the palate, all undercut with a balanced acidity.
