After cellaring, Chapel Hill’s McLaren Vale Shiraz reveals an even deeper connection to its origin and style. The savoury, brooding edge of McLaren Vale has softened into layers of earthy complexity, while the plush dark fruits remain, now more concentrated and seamless. Time has added polish and elegance, lifting the wine to a beautifully balanced, almost ethereal expression of the region. A refined and mature Shiraz that continues to showcase the very best of McLaren Vale.

Northern Tasmania is widely known for the quality of sparkling wine produced in the cool climate region, with the first 1995 vintage of Pirie doing much to establish this reputation. Another great success story of grape grower turned grower/winemaker. Troy Kalleske is the latest custodian of a family heritage that dates back to 1853 when the Kalleske family first planted vineyards in the Moppa sub-discrict of Greenock, in the north-west of the Barossa Valley. This Shiraz (with a touch of Viognier and Petit Verdot) is 100% biodynamic and has concentrated aromas of blueberry, cloves, violets and dried fig. The silken palate that follows has dark fruit and lifted notes of floral with a sublime length of flavour.

A superb example of the classic Australian blend of Shiraz and Cabernet, with fruit sourced primarily from vineyards across the Limestone Coast region of South Australia.Deep garnet to purple. Developing blackberry, plum, cassis, black pepper & cedar. A dark, brooding, full-bodied style, rich in dark berry fruit flavours, soft and velvety yet immense tannin foundation, deluxe cedary oak and a powerful finish.

A plentiful mousse sits atop a pale straw base that has gold tinged edges and a fine persistent bead. Toasty yeast lees scents are intermeshed with baked bread, citrus, light honeyed notes and traces of nut. The palate is tense and sculptured with racy acidity running through toast, subtly honeyed pear, yeast lees and roasted nut flavours. Dry crisp finish with a long aftertaste that builds a sense of creaminess as it lingers. Drink over the next 2-3 years. Alc. 12.5%
