It’s an appetising creation from Pierre-Jean Sauvion, formerly in charge of winemaking at Muscadet’s famous Château du Cléray, an estate owned by his uncle. Pierre-Jean now has a number of projects on the go. Having studied oenology in Bordeaux and worked in Australia and California, he is the epitome of the modern, outward looking French winemaker, whose approach shines through in this contemporary style Sauvignon. He sources grapes for La Folie from trusted friends in Touraine, Pays Nantais and Haut Poitou, to strike a balance of complexity, freshness and ripe fruit. Enjoy chilled solo or with food – we suggest asparagus risotto or courgette frittata.

The Berthier family have been winegrowers for five generations, with Clement and Florian taking over the reins in 2012 to continue the family tradition. Clement is responsible for winemaking and sales, while Florian is focused on the vineyards. Coteaux du Giennois, located northwest of Pouilly-Fume on the right bank of the Loire river, is the family's flagship appellation. Here, the terroir composed mainly of flint, limestone, and marl, ideal for expressive and exotic Sauvignon Blanc. The wine opens up with aromas of white flowers, citrus, and exotic fruits such as gooseberries, kiwi and passionfruit, with a lovely softness and elegance on the palate.

Pretty transparent salmon dress, bright and limpid. The nose is franc and pleasant, a mix of fresh red berries (raspberry, gariguette strawberry); then come citrus flavors (mandarin and pomelo). The mouth is charming with a wine that is clean, fresh and available, where we rediscover the fruity and delicious scents that had been perceived on the nose. With time, supple wine, with a good acid support which gives it lightness and good dynamics. The wine is simple, pleasant and well scented with a finish in which we find citrus fruits and tangy notes.
