This wine has been made from Chardonnay grapes grown in the cool maritime climate of Denmark in the Great Southern wine region of Western Australia. The juice is barrel fermented in a mixture of new and second use French oak 225 litre barriques and larger 500 litre puncheons.

This brilliant SSB shows a pale straw colour. The nose shows gooseberry and passion fruit fragrances, with hints of tropical fruit and grassy citrus. The palate is an amalgam of passion fruit, pineapple and citrus. The climax is crisp and lively.

The colour of gold struck through with green, this Riesling shows classic lime and mineral aromas with a touch of gooseberry. Rich and full-bodied, the citrus and tropical fruit flavours are underpinned by crisp acidity.

West Cape Howe Cape To Cape Chardonnay is a bright and clear wine flaunting a light lemon colour. The bouquet of this cool climate Chardonnay wine is beautifully aromatic with raw cashew nut characters and fragrances of fresh melon fruit. The palate is delicious and delicately flavoured with sweet tropical fruits and fresh honeydew melons. With an amazing palate weight, this Chardonnay is balanced by fresh acidity and flavoursome length. Made for immediate enjoyment, the wine pairs well with grilled fish, roast chicken, or vegetable terrines.

Very bright and clear with a light hint of green/gold colour. Super fresh and pungent with light tropical fruit characters of passionfruit, kiwifruit and ripe pear. Quite fresh and zesty! The light tropical fruit flavours are well tempered by the tangy acidity. It has a nice weight on the palate and considerable length of flavour; the delicious crisp acidity contributing to its long clean finish. A fruity, crisp dry wine that can be enjoyed as an aperitif or serve well chilled with just about anything.

Brilliant straw with green edges. Nuttiness and delicate stone fruit. Peach and grapefruit, with fresh balanced natural acidic finish giving layers of textural complexity. The fruit was handpicked, chilled and whole bunch pressed to allow gentle extraction. The juice was transferred directly into French oak barrels and fermented with a mix of natural (wild) yeast and selected yeast strains to provide complexity. No MLF to retain natural acidity and freshness. Post-fermentation the lees were stirred gently once a week until the balance between oak, lees characters and fruit characters was achieved. The origin of Rockcliffe was an 18 acre expanse of apple orchards planted early in the 1900s in the rich Scotsdale Valley region of Denmark in the Great Southern, Western Australia. In the late 1980s, a local family acquired the property for its fertile soils and position for long afternoon sunshine with cool ocean breezes. It was christened Matildas Meadow and the planting of dry grown vines commenced. The Pinot and Chardonnay vines were the first planted in the district in 1987. Conceived as a white wine development program, the Bin 51 Riesling soon became one of Penfolds' star performers. Eden Valley is an obvious choice of region for Riesling due to the higher altitude and cool climate. The wine offers delicate aromas of fresh cut apples and pears with a twist of lemon and minerality towards the end. A great deal of fruits and acidity makes for an interesting white wine with propensity to age gracefully if carefully cellared.

Deep Woods Hillside Chardonnay exhibits lifted nectarine and white blossom characters. A suggestion of cedar like oak frames the generous stone fruit characters and complex chipped shell minerality. The palate is clean and lively with tremendous depth of ripe stone-fruit flavour nuanced by cashew notes. Bright citrusy acidity ensures and long and seamless finish providing enhanced structure and length.

Lush, almost tropical aromas of pineapple, bananas and melon - the palate exhibits steely minerally flavours without being overly acidic. An excellent advertisement for Clare Riesling.
