Jim Barry 'Barry & Sons' Grenache Shiraz Malbec
Jim Barry 'Barry & Sons' Malbec
Jim Barry Expressions by Tom Barry Malbec
It’s no surprise this style won Gold. The Barry Family are legends in the Clare Valley, and have used their rich soils and expert skills to produce this truly stunning 100% malbec. Aromas of violets, redcurrants, maraschino cherries and lavender flood the nose. The flavours are plentiful with blueberries, liquorice, violets, dark chocolate and black tea. The wine is full of energy and juicy fruit supported by fine gravelly tannins and fresh cranberry juice acidity. This 100% Malbec shows the potential of the variety to stand on its own and produce a delicious wine with vibrancy and elegance. The first vineyard that my grandfather, Jim Barry, planted in 1964 at our Armagh property was Malbec (900 vines). Since that time, Malbec has played an important part in our winemaking journey and is predominantly blended with Cabernet Sauvignon. The artwork for this label depicts our Lodge Hill Vineyard on the Eastern Ranges of the Clare Valley. Awards: • Trophy

Jim Barry Lodge Hill Shiraz
The Lodge Hill vineyard is a masterstroke of the Jim Barry range of wines. Adding yet another layer of complexity to this producer's arsenal, Lodge Hill (at 480m) is one of the highest vineyards in the Clare, and sends down a bath of chocolate infused blackberries with liquorice spice. A gorgeous wine.

Jim Barry Single Vineyard The Farm Cabernet Malbec
Jim Barry Spring Farm Block 81 Malbec
Malbec was one of the first varieties Jim Barry encouraged in the region, believing it could play a major role in Clare Valley’s red wine future. While it often plays a supporting role in blends, Block 81 has always been unique, with a personality so bold that, in exceptional vintages, the Malbec stands alone as a single-variety wine. Located in the southeast corner of Spring Farm, Block 81 is a site that consistently produces small, concentrated berries—perfect for crafting a wine with depth and structure. In 2021, this vineyard gave us just 600 litres of an inky, chewy Malbec that captures everything Jim Barry saw in the grape decades ago. On the nose, it’s a heady mix of pomegranate, dried rose petals, and chocolate box aromas, while the palate delivers a muscular hit of blackberry, red plum, and salted liquorice. There’s a savoury edge too—dried mint and sage leaf, adding layers of complexity to an already striking wine. This is a rare and exciting glimpse into the variety’s potential in Clare Valley, a wine that showcases power with grace. 96 Points"This is a superb rendition of Malbec. It is succulent and chewy. Tasting it alongside the Spring Farm Cabernet, one can’t help but wonder at the magic that could have been possible with a blend of the two."– Erin Larkin (Wine Advocate) 96 Points"A Very Fancy Malbec... It feels fancy from hello, and we’re given an insight into elegance and poise from this variety. Impressive."– Mike Bennie (Halliday Wine Companion)
