Mount Mary

Mount Mary Quintet

Langton's Classification: Exceptional

Australia's premier cool climate Cabernet. It was John Middleton's dream to create such a wine and purchased the Mount Mary property in the Yarra Valley in 1971 to persue this dream. Quintet is his dream realised and is a blend of the classic Bordeaux varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec.

Mount Mary Triolet Semillon Sauvignon Blanc Muscadelle

A classic and refined style with some citrus characters framed by bakery and subtle vanilla spice, the iconic Triolet is a classic Bordeaux Blanc blend, incorporating the three varieties of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle. It was first produced by Mount Mary in 1987. The varieties are fermented separately in barrel with complexity and palate weight gained from extended lees contact and fermentation on solids.

Mount Mary Pinot Noir

Langton's Classification: Outstanding

Mount Mary Pinot Noir is extremely rare and hard to find. Don't miss any opportunity to buy this rare Pinot Noir from one of the Australia's premier cool climate producers. The Pinot Noir is supple and fresh with strong tannins which need more time to develop but will blossom into a magnicent example of the style.

Mount Mary Triolet

The Triolet blend, first produced at this vineyard in 1987, was inspired by the white wines of Graves, Bordeaux. Each variety is picked at optimum ripeness, and is usually fermented separately. The characteristics of optimum ripeness are different for each variety. We pick the Sauvignon blanc after the strong herbaceous flavours have disappeared, the Semillon when the acid is not too harsh, and the Muscadelle when the flavour intensity peaks.

Mount Mary Chardonnay

Langton's Classification: Excellent

At Mount Mary they aim to make a Chardonnay of great length that is able to reach a balance between complexity & finesse. Unashamedly Burgundian in concept, local Yarra Valley practices are employed to fully express the unique terroir, including the wine not going through Malolactic fermentation as Mount Mary's cool-climate leaves the fruit with ideal acidity when picked. Matured in 20% new French barriques with the remainder in older barrels and large casks and along with grape solids, this is a Chardonnay of impressive texture and complexity.

Mount Mary Quintet Cabernets

Supremely graceful and fine in typical Mount Mary style. The long and silky palate has a tapestry of red and black fruit flavours, the finish long and satisfying, the aftertaste lingering for minutes. Available in selected stores only.

Mount Mary Yarra Valley Chardonnay

The 2018 Chardonnay has managed to keep its all-important natural acid line, remaining fresh and focused but also full flavoured from the warmer growing season conditions. The nose shows an array of complexities opening with toasty oak characters along with a smattering of flint/struck match. But swiftly pushing these secondary characteristics to the side is intense primary fruit of lime, seared pear and grapefruit. There are some honey and crème brûlée aromas also present here. There are flavours of honey, ripe pear, grapefruit, toast and almond meal. There is a depth and richness to this wine that is held firmly in check by the strict acid line that runs through the core, adding freshness and length.
