Time in bottle has delivered a fuller, richer palate while retaining Clare Valley precision. Flavours of preserved lemon, brown lime and citrus flow into notes of toast, honey and subtle fruit sweetness. Slate and wet stone minerality underpin the wine, complemented by a faintly waxy texture. The finish is long, dry and precise, driven by beautifully balanced, mouth-watering acidity that keeps the wine fresh and vibrant.

Generous and textural, this Chardonnay shows white peach, melon and fig with hints of toasted almond, flinty minerality and subtle oak. Fresh acidity and creamy texture balance into a smooth, well-rounded finish with good length.

Hand-picked from the top section of the 1891 Ancestor Vine block, the fruit was fermented in a two-tonne open fermenter and the skins were hand plunged three times a day. At sugar dryness the wine was drained off and the skins pressed. The resultant wine was transferred straight to barrel and matured for nearly two years in one new and two older French oak barriques. Elegant, restrained and poised. A wine of integrity and finesse. Red fruits following on the palate, fine French oak char and fine grain tannins.
