Seppeltsfields founder, Joseph Seppelt and his eldest son, Benno, both possessed an incredibly long-term vision and outlook for Seppeltsfield, working tirelessly to ensure a legacy was passed on to future generations. This is manifest in Benno Seppelts inception of the Centennial Cellar, a remarkable system of laying down and maturing single barrels of vintage Tawny for significant ageing before release. It is believed to be the world's only unbroken lineage of single vintage wines spanning more than 130 consecutive vintages. This amazing resource allows Seppeltsfield to offer the release of wines at the 30, 40, 50,60,70,80 and 90 year anniversaries to mark a special birthday or milestone.

SEPPELTSFIELD 18 Year Old Para Rare Tawny, Barossa Valley

Bodegas Toro Albalá is considered one of the truly great wineries from the southern Spanish region of Montilla-Moriles. Established in 1922, Toro Albalá is now in the expert hands of Antonio Sánchez who hand crafts this extraordinary dessert wine from the lucious Pedro Ximenez grape variety. A concentrated nose of tobacco, crème de cacao and licqorice greets you while the palate is a beguiling mixture of sweet and bitter flavours with a dense concentration and length that seems to live forever.

This fine mature tawny is made from the Barossa’s traditional tawny varieties, Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz, and has been blended to an average age of a 10-year-old wine. This exhibits a sweet and mellow palate with developed fruit and oak tannin characters.This tawny wine is assessed and re-blended into a solera-based system, enabling us to consistently release wines of such high quality. Only a strictly limited quantity of 10-year-old tawny is drawn from the solera for bottling each year, and the barrels are topped up with selected younger wine.

A fortified wine from the Barossa Valley with aromas of dried fruit orchards. Its packed full of rich and sweet fruit flavours that finish in the style of a brandy spirit.
