Tempranillo

Viña Bujanda Tinto Joven Rioja

Love red wines with easy fruit and elegance? This Joven (young) Rioja is a must-try. We’ve known the Bujanda family since 1984, when they completed their state-of-the-art winery. In fact, we were the first to introduce their wines to the UK. Four decades later, their cellar remains one of the finest in Europe, with a trophy cabinet full of awards and a top winemaker at the helm – Lauren Rosillo. This Joven is from the family’s beautiful Finca Valpiedra estate, whose vineyard is nestled in a bend of the Ebro river. Made entirely from estate-grown Tempranillo and aged for a year in bottle, it’s silky with bright strawberry and blackberry fruit. Smooth enough to sip solo, or pair with tapas, charcuterie or game.

XO Wine Co Tempranillo

This Adelaide Hills Tempranillo was selected from a single vineyard in Macclesfield in the southern hills. It was handcrafted to produce a wine portraying the uniquely high elevation, red earth, crisp mornings and the warmth of autumn colours. Brooding dark fruits with ripe plums are integrated with a mild oak spice and hints of wild mint. A perfect accompaniment to a grazing platter on an mild Autumn afternoon.

Heirloom Adelaide Hills Tempranillo

De Bortoli Woodfired Tempranillo

Tempranillo is an easy going red variety and well suited to the climate and deep red soils of Northern Heathcote. With soft fruit and fine tannins, Woodfired Tempranillo has modern grainy flavours, ample structure and savoury tannins. This wine will pair perfectly with dishes like chargrilled chorizo and Manchego cheese.

Paxton Tempranillo

This elegant wine shows a deep and dark colour, with light hints of purple along the edges. The bouquet exhibits dark fruit and chocolate fragrances, with underlying oak hints. The rich and juicy palate is full of chocolate and licorice flavours, with nuances of vanillin oak supporting the palate.

Y Series Tempranillo

La Linea Tempranillo

La Linea Tempranillo has floral aromas, with notes of raspberry, mulberry and cherry, and hints of sage and rosemary. Savoury and complex yet fresh, with distinctive fine tannins, it will age for some years.

Posada del Rey Tinto

The Posada del Rey label is synonymous with quality wines that far exceed their humble table wine classification. This wine’s fresh, unoaked fruit (plums, redcurrants and cherries) comes down to a judicious blend of grapes from vineyards across northeast Spain. In our view, Posada del Rey offers a canny alternative to young Rioja. No wonder it has such a large following and is among our most notable bestsellers. Those who try it seem delighted with both quality and price – “stunning value” wrote one online customer. Pure Tempranillo, the prized grape of Rioja, it’s brimful with juicy plums, redcurrant and black cherries. Enjoy alongside tapas, garlic mushrooms, roasted vegetables with feta, or chicken. It’s great as a glass on its own, too.
