Tempranillo

Viña Ijalba Tempranillo Rioja

Dionisio Ruiz planted his first vine in 1975. A vineyard on an old gravel pit which reproduced the natural conditions in which vines grow in La Rioja. And so began a pioneering road. Viña Ijalba, founded in 1991, elaborating quality ecological wines using traditional techniques of la Rioja, and even now, in its third generation, respecting its compromise with the environment. Viña Ijalba Tempranillo Rioja 2021 is 100% tempranillo like many of those wines that have written the history of DO Rioja. It is generous through all phases of the tasting. Violet colour, with a fresh vibrant aroma of red fruit, typical of Tempranillo. On the palate it is full-bodied, fresh and full of flavour, with a concentration of red berries. Pairs best with light meat, appetizers, rich fish and light cheese.

DeAlto amo Rioja Reserva

Fusing centuries old traditions with contemporary wisdom, deAlto amo is a modern interpretation of Rioja. A beautifully smooth, supple and silky blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano. deAlto prides themselves on their extremely careful pre-selection of fruits and vineyards ton ensure the wines they produced have a pre-determined objective. Their wines go through the desired ageing process, are ready to be drunk, ideally prepared to display all the nuanced, complex fruit that is the hallmark of great Rioja. The deAlto amo Rioja Reserva 2021 vintage is succulent with smoky blackberries and subtle hints of vanilla, grilled meats, and tobacco. Delicately layered, mouth filling but ultimately pure, long, satisfying. Strata Tempranillo

The Strata Tempranillo comes from Victoria where grape growing and winemaking has existed since the mid-1800's. However due to the pest phylloxera, the region was widely damaged, leading to decline in production from the 1890's until the 1950's. Some 70 years on now, the region is revitalized with more than 800 winieries and 600 cellar doors, thus making Victoria an exciting and vibrate wine state yet again. The Tempranillo grape is traditionally grown in the Spanish region of Rioja. Vineyards growing Tempranillo are best when in sunny climates and are in protected, elevated, mountainous valley regions. Making Victoria the perfect spot for this grape. The 2020 vintage of the Strata Tempranillo is a full bodied wine. It delivers beautifully spicy notes of vanilla and clove. Enjoy this vegan friendly wine now or cellar for 3-5 years from vintage date.

Bremerton Tempranillo/Graciano

The grapes used to craft Bremerton Tempranillo/Graciano were fermented in open top vessels and matured in French as well as American oak barriques. The resulting wine shows a lively red colour, with hints of purple highlighting the edges. This enticing red blend offers a vibrant bouquet and juicy palate filled with dark rose, berry, spice and floral characters. These lush elements are supported by the structural acid as well as natural and elegant tannins, to culminate in a delightful and lingering finale. Crafted to age gracefully over time, this wonderful blend tastes amazing with Spanish cuisine as well as sheep milk cheeses.

Henschke Stone Jar Tempranillo

Deep crimson with violet hues. Exotic and perfumed aromas of tamarillo, black cherry, boysenberry and black currant are supported by cinnamon, anise, rosehip and dried herbs. The palate is at once plush and savoury with flavours of freshly cut plum, red currant, cacao nib and black pepper. Elegantly structured, the balanced acidity and fine tannins provide a beautiful mouthfeel with a long, focused finish.

Mesta Tempranillo

Serra I Barcelo 'Aucala' Garnatxa Tinto

Mesta Tempranillo Rose

The Mesta was a powerful association of shepherds in Medieval Castile, controlling the routes for herding sheep across the country. The Mesta vineyards are situated deep in the land of the Mesta. They are still passed over by flocks on their annual migration, a reminder of ancient rights and a cultural cue for continuing co-existence with nature. Trough organic viticulture and respectful winemaking, they produce wines of great purity, reflecting the unique personality of their land and grape varieties. An approachable but serious rosé wine, displaying great purity and typicity for the noble Tempranillo grape, in a lighter, more elegant style than most Spanish rosés. Pale strawberry colour, with intense and fresh berry aromas over subtle floral notes. Excellent concentration and a slightly off-dry finish, beautifully balanced by crisp acidity and a refreshing, savoury note. A perfect summer drink and a highly versatile food wine with pasta, rice dishes, vegetables and curries as well as stir-fried, spicier dishes.
