Bold and strong in character, this deep rich and golden Chardonnay is filled with stone fruit aromas and a sweet textured palate. The criminally intense toasty oak notes have hints of butterscotch and honey balanced with layers of ripe fruit. This full bodied, powerful wine finishes with rich notes of butter and vanilla.

The Chardonnay has a brilliant pale straw hue, the nose has lifted peach and nectarine balanced by subtle toasty char and spice from oak fermentation and maturation. The palate has a rich and creamy texture with flavours of freshly picked white nectarine, rockmelon and hints of lemon citrus finishing with a crisp, dry and lingering acidity balanced with a touch of toasty oak complexity. Fresh and pure with green mango and white peach fruit overlaid by notes of sea salt, Riverstone and aniseed. The maturation in Clay Amphora is evident in the excellent chalky texture and the complex but fruit driven palate. Marc-André Roy and Jared Etzel established Domaine Roy and fils in 2012 to celebrate their heritage and continue the winemaking history of their fathers, Robert Roy and Michael Etzel, who founded the renowned Beaux Frères Winery in 1991. With a minimalist winemaking approach and a commitment to organic farming, these are wines of purity and transparency expressing the land from which the wines are farmed. Sourced from the Iron Filbert and Quartz Acorn vineyards, the Chardonnay grapes are hand-harvested and whole-cluster pressed to preserve the full richness of the aromas, with fermentation and aging in French oak (5% new) for 10 months. The resulting wine shows complex, flinty, struck-match barrel ferment characters, with a complex creamy nose and white stone fruits, and a tightly wound palate, displaying delicate textural elements, subtle vanilla, green apple acidity. A compelling balance of richness with tension and freshness.

The Tate family are one of the most famous wine names in Western Australia, especially in Margaret River. It was the Tate family who began Evans & Tate decades ago and today the Tate name is re-born under the Franklin Tate Estates label. Franklin, son of John, has sourced some of the most prestigious vineyard sites in Margaret River and has highly regarded winemaker Rory Clifton-Parks to hand-craft the quality wines, like this traditional Chardonnay.
