A Platinum-winning, top-vintage Bordeaux from Château Fonbadet, a small, family-run winery in the heart of Pauillac. The Château’s neighbours are Bordeaux icons like Mouton-Rothschild and Latour. The Peyronie family, the current owners, can trace their ancestry in the region back to the 1700s. However, in the early 20th century they finally bought the keys to Château Fonbadet. Today, great-granddaughter, Pascale Peyronie, continues the family legacy producing many award-winning wines. B de Fonbadet is a classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Rich in black fruits with a floral lift, mellow tannins, and layers of chocolate and tobacco from six months in oak, well deserving of its Decanter Platinum award. An accessible style even in its youth, enjoy with lamb or mushroom ragù.

A true local, he knows all the best winegrowers and went straight to the region's very finest vineyards (usually owned by long standing friends) to source the fruit for this fine fizz. Just one sip will transport you to a smart Venetian piazza. Great value, delicious taste – chill your bottle down and enjoy.

We use our Selección Especial label for secret deal wines from top cellars, bottled anonymously and sold for a fraction of their value. So, we can’t reveal the winery name behind Selección Especial Numerada 73 Rioja Crianza but here’s what we can tell you. First of all, it comes from grapes grown on dry-farmed, ancient bush vines. These don’t yield many grapes, but the grapes they do produce are intense and packed full of flavour. It’s made mainly from Tempranillo, with just a dash of Garnacha and aged for a year in seasoned oak barriques After several more years ageing in the bodega’s cellar, the widely acclaimed 2021 vintage is now drinking at its peak. Silky and expressive with ripe red fruit, plums and toasty oak spice.

A favourite Grigio (though Gris by name) from the dynamic Zonte's Footstep team on great form with this bright Adelaide Hills treasure. A frequent Gold and high score winner. Reviewing a previous vintage, Ken Gargett WinePilot commented: "Always great fun to review the Zonte’s Footstep wines – cracking wines, brilliant value and some weird and wacky labels… It does hover between the two styles – Gris and Grigio – which is, I guess, the point. 92pts" Sam Kim Wine Orbit has called it "Fresh and elegant… finishing crip-dry and lingering. 92pts" An assessment certainly apt for this vintage too.

We love this thoroughly satisfying Single Vineyard rosé from Adelaide Hills and gifted winemaker Steve Grimley. Steve is rightly enthusiastic in describing it: "The colour is beautiful, super bright and icy on the edges. If you grabbed a fresh green apple from the fridge, dipped it in toffee and had the teeth to tuck in, you’ll catch an express to your first sip, likely your second as well. It’s not cuddly soft, likely the extra skin contact has added some phenolic grip, personally I like this, especially when it’s knitted together with some genuine mid palate sweetness that exits before the end." It is delicious! Steve also mentions: "This is the best wine ever made off Zimmer’s Vineyard and that includes the 2011 which someone like Wine Spectator claimed to be ‘one of the 10 wines you need to try if you think you know Australian Wine’. Fruit if from a single site of Grenache planted in the 1960’s in super sandy soils. It was hand picked first up in the morning, straight into a pneumatic press, left on skins for the rest of the day before being pressed into tank. Settled then racked with ‘fluffy’ lees before fermenting at <21 C until dry. Only 119.58 Cases botted 11th of June.

Savour a silky, ripe and utterly charming, fine-dining Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. Surrounded by extensive parkland blessed with century-old trees, Château Montlabert is a grand, imposing, 18th-century estate. It lies within the lieu-dit Grace Dieu that lends the property its name. Its vineyards comprise 13 hectares, all in one block, planted on deep sandy, gravelly soils with deep-lying clay to help retain moisture in the drier years. Their wine is a charming, silky red made mostly, as you’d expect, from Merlot, with a little of both Cabernets to lend cassis notes to the deep plum flavour. 14 months in French oak barrels, half of those new, lend layers of complexity and subtle oak nuances. Let the wine breathe for an hour or two before serving with boeuf bourguignon, confit de canard or a wild mushroom risotto.

The Noble One by De Bortoli is considered Australia's premier dessert wine, and for obvious reasons. The wine has won countless awards at the leading wine shows around the country and has a wonderful propensity to develop even further in the bottle. The 2002 Noble One is a classic expression of the style with rich apricot treacle characters with fig and orange blossom still active on the nose and palate. Hints of vanilla bean and a refreshing acidity on the finish mean this decade old wine will continue to live in the cellar for many years more.

Clean, bright and crisp Chenin from McLaren Vale’s dynamic Hither & Yon team, with flavours of apples, lemon barley water, and nutty notes. Brothers Richard and Malcolm Leask started Hither & Yon in 2012. Interestingly each label depicts the ampersand from the name but with a different artist at work with every one. The team at Hither & Yon are inventive, quality focussed, and work with great trusted growers, and usually excels in interesting blends and rarer grapes, like this Chenin Blanc from the Breakneck Creek vineyard "on the eastern escarpment of McLaren Vale, tucked into the foothills and with stunning views of the Gulf St. Vincent and Mount Lofty ranges this is a brand new wine for Hither & Yon."

First made back in 1997 and still definitely one of the sentimental favourites in the Kilikanoon portfolio, the Prodigal continues to set the standard for Clare Valley old-vine Grenache. Each fruit parcel was harvested and kept separate throughout the winemaking process until final assemblage. A fresh and lively palate, yet dark and brooding at the same time, the combination of ripe cherries, dark chocolate, kitchen spices and kirsch perfectly in sync with the fine chalky tannins and oak influences rounding out to a long flavoursome finish.
