Paul Avril Clos des Papes is a wine producer in the Rhône Valley, making one of the most sought-after wines in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC. The estate is made up of 24 small plots throughout the appellation totalling 32 hectares (79 acres). All of the 13 permitted grape varieties are grown in these vineyards, although Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah are the most important in terms of production. Picking is spread out to ensure maximum quality, and green harvests and strict berry selection ensures a low yield. Clos des Papes takes its name from one of its plots located near the ruins of the 14th Century Papal castle. There are two main wines associated with Clos des Papes: a red and a white wine. The red accounts for 90 percent of production and typically contains 65 percent Grenache, 20 percent Mourvedre and 10 percent Syrah, with the remainder made up of the other permitted Châteauneuf-du-Pape varieties. The wine is known for its finesse and elegance, and is one of the most important wines in the AOC. The white Châteauneuf-du-Pape is made up of Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Clairette, Bourboulenc and Picpoul, and is aged in stainless steel. Clos des Papes makes around 100,000 bottles a year, most of which is exported.

Henschke Mount Edelstone is one of the most important single vineyard sites in Australia. The 90 year old vines has been producing a single vineyard Shiraz since 1952 and is one of Australia's truly great wines. The nose has sweet ripe plum and blueberry aromas and the palate is intense and deeply flavoured. While enjoyable upon release, this is a wine that will enjoy a decade or more in the cellar.

Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier began its life after a career defining trip to the Côte-Rôtie in the mid 90s which set Tim Kirk on the journey towards producing one of Australia's best Shiraz. Determined to show that Australia could produce elegant but still powerful Shiraz, Tim's work has paid off with his flagship being acclaimed worldwide. In only 15 years, the Shiraz Viognier has attained 'Exceptional' status with Langton's, the highest possible.

Piper-Heidsieck's roots trace back to Florens-Louis Heidsieck, who created the original company of Heidsieck & Co. Christian Heidsieck joined the venture alongside Guillaume Piper and once Florens-Louis died in 1828, the duo decided to continue the adventure side by side, founding Champagne Piper-Heidsieck. In 2021, Piper-Heidsieck launched their new series of Champagne "Hors-Série" and the first release was Vintage 1971. November 2022 saw the release of the next Hors-Série, which is Vintage 1982. Hors-Série 1982 has been disgorged in the spring of 2022 after 39 years of storage on lees by current cellar master Emilien Boutillat. The results of the 1982 harvest are considered amongst the most exceptional ever witnessed in the history of Champagne. The grapes grew under steady weather conditions. The results were irreproachable and the harvest abundant! The grapes, all varieties included, were in excellent condition and stood out for their finesse, equilibrium and grandeur, hallmarks of a great year in Champagne. Émilien Boutillat stays true to the Hors-Série spirit of offering a unique and unexpected tasting experience. A bridge between the Piper-Heidsieck history and its modern spirit, Hors-Série 1982 joins the collection. The liqueur de dosage, crafted from 1982 vintage magnums, respects the personality and balance of the wine. It has been dosed at 4 grams of sugar per litre, just like the Brut Sauvage 1982. Conducted during the disgorgement on 17th and 18th January 2022, the Extra Brut dosage accentuates the vibrancy, freshness and minerality of the vintage. A blend of 60% Pinot Noir from Verzy in the Montagne de Reims and 40% Chardonnay from Côte des Blancs, the Hors-Série 1982 boasts its own particular personality, forged by 39 years of ageing on lees. This distinctive feature ensures a unique tasting experience and justifies numbering each box. Only 2500 bottles were produced. With a pale golden robe, the Hors-Série 1982 unveils luscious notes of mirabelle plums, kumquats, dried pineapple, and fresh quince, highlighted by a touch of ginger and bergamot tea. Smoky accents of coffee beans and toast balance out the wine’s minerality.

Elegant, with colour changing naturally from a pretty raspberry hue to salmon-pink. A precise nose of extraordinary freshness and a wide range of red fruits: raspberry, redcurrant, strawberry, black cherry. A fresh and sharp attack for this supple and rounded wine. On the palate, it offers the sensation of plunging into a basket of freshly picked red berries. Pinot Noir from 10 different crus located mainly in the South and North areas of the Montagne de Reims including the famous Côte de Bouzy. Notably from the finest crus of Ambonnay, Bouzy, Louvois and Tours-sur-Marne. The grapes from carefully selected plots are sorted and destemmed before vatting. The maceration lasting from 48h to 72h depending on the harvest helps the extraction of the colour and the development of the full aromatic richness of the Pinot Noir, with 5 years minimum ageing.

The trailblazers of the Adelaide Hills have created another outstanding wine. A superb expression of modern cool-climate Shiraz; Shaw & Smith is elegantly spicy and brimming with supple red-fruit flavours matched by fine tannins. An absolute ripper.

Giant Steps plays it's part in the rapid accension of Australian Chardonnay back to the position it once held here. That being of the king of white varieties. This is a very stylish numbe from Phil Sexton and his team. Stonefruit, melon and butterscotch characters are supported by vanillin oak and the palate is long and textured with a clean crisp finish.

The L.A.S. Vino Albino PNO is made from pinot noir & chardonnay grapes grown in forest grove soils over granitic rock. The vineyard sits on the banks of the willyabrup river, only kilometres from the Indian ocean where cool ocean breezes flow up the valley. It’s one of the oldest and last remaining vineyards in Margaret River that contains Pinot Noir. A small one hectare vineyard with high density plantings and two different clones planted in 1980. Hand picked fruit, whole bunch pressed and naturally fermented in barrique. In comparison with other years the wine is lighter in colour and lower in alcohol, yet has body and balance through a secondary ferment, regular lees stirring and the addition of Chardonnay (14%). You can think of it as a rose if you like, but its a lot more than that. Lifted aromas of strawberries, rockmelon and cream.

Pooley was established in 1985 when the family planted 10 rows of Riesling & 7 rows of Pinot Noir on their property at Coal River in Southern Tasmania. This wine comes off those first planted Riesling vines. Such an enticing wine from the first sniff; jasmine, grapefruit & white flowers on the nose, while the palate reveals lavender, lime zest, green apple & fennel. Seductive stuff. The Cooinda Vale vineyard is ideally positioned facing northeast overlooking the Coal River in southern Tasmania. On the 43.5 Latitude line, the vineyard is planted on northeast facing slopes at 130m above sea level. This is a unique microclimatic location, being well protected from prevailing winds but still highly influenced by maritime conditions. The long growing season, which can extend into May, with high sunshine hours, predominately winter rainfall and the occasional frost and snow, combine to provide an excellent condition for cool climate grape varieties, such as Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Chardonnay. Initially the nose is a little shy with fresh notes of citrus peel and blossom. The palate is typical Cooinda Vale, refined and elegant with lemon sherbet, cumquat and marmalade. Strong acid profile with a persistent finish.

A combination of three vineyards. A certified organic and biodynamic site planted in 1992 at the northern end of the cape. The vines sprawl everywhere, and pigs, geese, guinea fowl and cows roam free. The site faces north with a little creek running through the middle of the vineyard. Native flowers and plants grow under the rows with no herbicides or pesticides sprayed and no cultivation. There were two seperate picks for this vineyard 20 days apart included in this wine. The second vineyard is grown in Willyabrup vines planted in 1980 in granite rich red gravelly loam soils. Sitting on the banks of the Willyabrup brook with very loose bunches on a cool site at 50m above sea level. The third vineyard is just around the corner and also grown in Willyabrup. with vines planted in 1988. Although its not yet possible to test we think this clone of chenin is slightly different to the other 2 with big tight bunches. Grown in gravelly loam at 80m above sea level. The fruit was hand picked and showed varied levels of ripeness through both vineyards. The fruit was chilled overnight and hand sorted prior to being lightly cold pressed as whole bunches. The juice was left to naturally settle prior to a wild fermentation in french barriques. A partial malolactic fermentation on some barrels and fortnightly lees stirring prior to being bottled with no fining and a light filtration. The CBDB is a single vineyard, single varietal wine, in contrast the L.A.S. Vino Chenin Blanc is a little more diverse. We have chenin blanc from three seperate vineyards, all within Margaret River, There is a a touch of chardonnay (3%) and a touch of sauvignon blanc (3%) in the mix too which creates complexity and character.
