From cool slopes 530 metres above sea level in the Snowy Mountains, comes a classy Chardonnay that strikes a balance between fresh fruit and French oak. Brightwater is from a tiny family estate our Buyer first visited in 2002, having noticed that famous Aussie wine writer James Halliday had reviewed their Sauvignon above Cloudy Bay. Their 2009 was also rated as 5 Stars by top Kiwi wine critic Bob Campbell MW. A classic match with goat's cheese, it's also just the ticket with seafood, especially oysters. Alternatively, enjoy as a refreshing glass on its own.

Bordeaux has been blessed in recent years with a run of terrific vintages. Here, we present a charming petit château Bordeaux from a small estate, close to the Garonne, in the south of the Entre-Deux-Mers. At 100 metres altitude and planted on sand, clay and silt soils, its vines – Merlot, plus Cabernets Franc and Sauvignon – thrive and have produced this most attractive claret. Already appealing, the wine is still young, so it's best opened early and decanted. A fine, well structured and well-balanced red to serve with classic red meat dishes, a rich veggie casserole or cheese.

‘Moonlighter’ captures the very essence of the RedHeads concept. Right at the beginning, when RedHeads started in the McLaren Vale, a handful of dedicated, rule-breaking, young winemakers, with a day job at the big corporations, would arrive at RedHeads studio early evening, down a cold beer, then start on crafting a ‘real’ wine, with all the unbridled passion you’d expect from the newly qualified winemaking elite Down Under. The same goes on today in the Barossa Valley RedHeads winemaking studio. Moonlighters is a super-innovative blend of grapes and wine regions, only the best parcels of South Australian fruit make it in.

Dr Forrest and his wife Brigid (also a doctor) use techniques in the vineyard to allow the grapes to obtain maximum flavour, but keep sugar (and therefore alcohol) levels down. No fancy winery or laboratory tricks – just some very clever canopy management and timing as to when they pick. This delicious lower alcohol (9.5%) Rosé melds Pinot Noir with the white grape Arneis to create a delightfully fresh and lively pink, bursting with fresh strawberries, ripe red cherry, and just a hint of aromatic herbs like sage and thyme.

A dazzling Sav Blanc that almost leaps out of the glass. Red capsicum, passionfruit and fresh herb notes on the nose lead on to a crunchy, refreshing, tropical Marlborough finish. The difference? It's only 9.5% in alcohol. Not that you'd notice - that's the magic of 'The Doctors'!
