Delight in a juicy, popular pink poppy wine! One of our most popular family of wines – Il Papavero (the poppy) wines are made by Italian maestro, Scipione Giuliani. About 20 years ago, Scipioni blew critics away with his original Il Papavero – a humble ‘vino da tavola’ that offered near boundless drinking pleasure and astonishing value for money. Since then, he’s expanded the range, with every new release always offering the discerning drinker plenty of flavour for the money. And this mouthwatering Rosato – rosé continues that trend. It’s crafted from Nero d’Avola, a southern Italian variety that’s normally used to make big, juicy reds. Scipi sourced his Nero in vineyards planted on slopes overlooking the sea, where cooling breezes contributed to this wine’s irresistible freshness. The perfect aperitif.

Provence is the world epicentre for pale, sophisticated rosé wines that offer delicate citrus and summer berry flavours, and L’Art Provençal is a classic example of this style. It’s no surprise that Provence makes exceptional rosé as the region has an ideal climate for refreshing pinks, with twice as much sunshine as London, yet relatively moderate temperatures even in the height of summer. This delightful rosé is from the Breban family’s domaine, high in the hills of the Côte d’Azur. Their vineyards are surrounded by wooded hillsides and have a sunny south-facing aspect and well-drained soil to help keep the flavours concentrated. Rounded with savoury, subtle fruitiness this is an ideal rosé to enjoy with poached salmon, salt and pepper squid or on its own.

The fruit is there, pristine and pure… so neatly put together and reflective of high-quality fruit. Cherry and cranberry, watermelon, pink grapefruit, a little rose and tamarind. Walter Clappis has been making wine in McLaren Vale for nearly 40 years and has won innumerable Trophies and Golds, with fruit sourced from Cooter Vineyard, Whites Valley in the Willunga foothills.

Stretching along Italy’s Adriatic coast, the Abruzzo boasts pretty coastal coves and dramatic landscapes of soaring mountains, rolling verdant hills, deep valleys and ancient castles. It's a favourite spot for holidaying Italians, but is otherwise little known. Yet its extensive vineyards produce a range of deliciously accessible wines – creamy, plum-filled Montepulciano reds, citrusy Trebbianos and this fruity Pinot Grigio. This white addition to our Farinelli range provides excellent value, yet over the vintages it’s scored an amazing 93 points at the IWC competition and won four medals. Enjoy here a lovely balance of ripe peach and apple fruit with citrusy zip. It makes an ideal apéritif and goes well with lemon chicken and creamy pasta.

Monsieur Paul was making his wine during WW2. He’s now in his 90s and still going strong! When he was a boy his family were the last remaining to bring in the grapes as the rest of the village marched away to war. Moulin de Pontfract survived and continues to prosper today. Even after the rich and famous flocked to Provence and his neighbouring town of Correns, buying up vineyards to make pricey rosés, Monsieur Paul batted away the glitz and stuck to his winemaking roots. Whilst he may not be doing the back-breaking work of harvest anymore, he’s still there, perched on the hilltop with a walkie-talkie directing the pickers. And his rosé is as good as ever – fresh and fruity with strawberry charm.

If you come to visit the Laithwaite family at their Bordeaux home, Château La Clarière, in the heat of summer, they’re sure to offer you a well-chilled glass of rosé. It’s a must, even if you’re a red wine drinker. And when the pink is this good, it would be foolish to resist. There are not usually have enough grapes to make any sizeable quantity of rosé (the rest is reserved for the red), but the wine has such a following that we always ensure we make some. So, it’s quite rare. The wine is a blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, slowly cool-fermented in stainless steel tanks. That way we capture the delicate summer berry fruit and zippy citrus freshness. This is subtle, gently aromatic and every bit as pretty as its label suggests. Lovely solo, but we usually serve it to guests with seafood canapés.

92pt latest (2025) release of an Adelaide Hills pink sparkler that has been described in recent releases by the Halliday Companion as "among Australia's best… Confidently presented with complexity and poise… Runs fine, long and so impressive. All class" having offered "Exciting drinkability and sophistication all in one glass" and what's more, "It would be hard to find a more crowd-pleasing rosé fizz than this. It is delicious and elegant and sophisticated worthy of serious attention.– as Jane Faulkner said of this latest NV (2025 release) it is “very good rosé in anyone’s book” (Halliday).
