These valleys teemed with gold miners in the 19th century, and as gold became scarce, vineyards were developed. Taltarni led the revitalisation of wine growing in the Pyrenees in the 1960s. The rolling hills, sweeping vistas, bluffs and stands of gum trees create a magnificent setting to produce outstanding wines. Luna Belle NV by Taltarni reflects the importance of the natural environment and beauty of the area. A sparkling wine made in the traditional method is straw in colour with aromas of green apple, lemon curd & brioche. Sourced from the original Dixons Creek Estate vineyard, this Chardonnay speaks of place and shines a light on one of the Yarra Valleys most prized grape varieties. Fresh, zesty citrus and melon jump from the glass supported by notes of almond meal and sublte French oak spice. The palate shows incredible clarity of fruit framed up by the considered use of new French oak. Barrell fermentation and lees stirring adds a level of richness and compexity delivering an wine that speaks of place. Buttery Chardonnay is named for the rich, creamy flavorus imparted by its distinct winemaking style. Our coastal California vineyards deliver lush notes of ripe apple and white peach, balanced with bright, mouth-watering acidity. Malolactic fermentation then enchances the wine's body and complexity. Aging on French and American oak adds the finishing touches of brown spice and vanilla aromas and notes of toasty brioche to complement the decadent buttery profile.

This is the first release of this wine from a vineyard in the southern part of Coonawarra's Terra Rossa. It is an impressive first-up release showing the benefit of the mild to warm, dry harvest period and lower yields, creating ideal conditions for Coonawarra Chardonnay. The quality of the fruit after handpicking has allowed whole bunch pressing, barrel ageing, and malolactic fermentation all of which result in a light-bodied but textured creamy wine with a fine distinct acid line and real palate brightness and energy.
