Kings' Creed live by their creed to craft small batch wines of quality with bold character. The Adelaide Hills is located in the Mount Lofty Ranges, east of Adelaide. Its diversity in terms of altitude, climate and soil helps it produce its distinctive cool climate wines. Here, Ben Riggs sources the finest Pinot Grigio fruit to make a wine loaded with crisp, juicy just ripe pear with a touch of citrus. As winemaker Ben Riggs says, "2021 vintage was one of the greats. Excellent winter/spring rainfall, sunny warm spring followed by one of the mildest summers on record with only one day over 36 and beautiful mild evenings. Whites are incredibly fragrant, aromatic with delicious fresh acidity and lovely fleshy fruit palates."

Crisp apple and fresh pear bounce around in this easy-drinking Pinot Grigio that's a palate-full of flavour. A refreshing addition to afternoon drinks or maybe enjoy it with a chicken pesto salad.

The Winemaking: Once harvested the fruit was crushed and pressed; the juice was cold settled and racked to ferment. The ferment was carried out with selected yeast and stopped with some residual sugar. Post fermentation the wine was stabilised, clarified and bottled. Many of you will remember Sam Trimboli from his days at Warburn Estate where, every vintage, he’d pick up literally hundreds of awards. He’s still on a winning streak, but now he’s renting space all for himself at a winery in Riverina, New South Wales. Sam makes there the mighty Black Duck, and his white version – the equally fruity and irresistible White Duck. Sam has been in the region for many years, so knows exactly where the best grapes are growing. In 2021, he selected when he wanted them picked too, cool fermenting and adding a touch of citrusy Pinot Grigio to the blend. This is the sort of wine you should never be short of, ready chilled in the fridge. Exuberant with bright melon fruit – serve solo or with a spicy noodle dish.

Born-and-bred Hunter Valley specialist, Aaron Mercer spent years at Tamburlaine, and had stints at Tyrrell’s and Brokenwood, before setting up on his own. He’s also worked in California, France and Germany so brings a great deal of experience to his winemaking, with a a great small-batch range from premium Hunter Valley sites, Tumbarumba and Orange (as here), This Pinot Grigio is pure, yet textured. A little added weight through lees ageing and a little time in oak.A fine and focussed drop showcasing white flowers, creamy almond nougat and acid crunch.
