Tim Knappstein is a legend of the wine industry and his wines always impress. This one comes from two vineyards in the beautiful Adelaide Hills at Carey Gully and Piccadilly. It's bright, intense and mouthwateringly delicious. Look forward to piercing flavours of snowpea and passionfruit combined with a mineral edge and delicious citrus. Superb.

The Noble One by De Bortoli is considered Australia's premier dessert wine, and for obvious reasons. The wine has won countless awards at the leading wine shows around the country and has a wonderful propensity to develop even further in the bottle. The 2002 Noble One is a classic expression of the style with rich apricot treacle characters with fig and orange blossom still active on the nose and palate. Hints of vanilla bean and a refreshing acidity on the finish mean this decade old wine will continue to live in the cellar for many years more.

It boasts a raft of high point scores, including a rare 97pt rating from the Halliday Wine Companion team who hail the wine’s special value even at its full price of $80 a bottle.

Enjoy this rich, well-oaked and spicy 93pt Single Vineyard Shiraz from Currency Creek. "Inky and glass-staining with blackberry compote, blueberry, licorice and pepper-crusted meats. This wine sees some time in both French and American oak, which gives it some slippery vanilla and caramelised plum pie flavours. Certainly richer in style with firm clove and paperbark tannins providing ample framework, while raspberry tea and peppery spice bring lift through the finish. From Kilikanoon’s Clare Valley heartland – this cuvée makes use of fruit from several ‘Settlement’ blocks in Leasingham originally given to soldiers returning from the World Wars. Warm days and cool nights yield Shiraz of terrific power, elegance and length. The use of multiple blocks and careful oak ageing, adds complexity for a rich, satisfying premium Kilikanoon Shiraz full of black fruit and peppery notes.

Cape Jaffa was a pioneer both in the Mt Benson region and in terms of its focus on biocynamics and sustainability. The first of the Mount Benson wineries,Cape Jaffa’s fully certified biodynamic vineyard provides 50% of production, with additional fruit sourced from a certified biodynamic grower in Wrattonbully. This is a lovely drop for warmer weather. As Shanteh Wale says in The Halliday Wine Companion, this is “made for drinking and good times. Serve slightly chilled" but it is not without complexity. "Blackberries, prune, plums and thistle. Picked oregano, margoram and green olive.”
