Château Mouton Rothschild Pauillac
Château Mouton Rothschild is the work of one man, the legendary Baron Philippe, who is solely responsible for this giant of Bordeaux. Taking charge in 1923 until his death in 1988, he created something the world will always be in debt for. He also started the tradition of getting an artist to design a label for every vintage, a tradition that continues to this day. In 2009, the wine almost transcends perfection. A quite low alcohol percentage given the ripeness of the fruit, the bouquet is reminiscent of cigar box and graphite with violets and cassis playing a part. The palate is both restrained and concentrated, a impressive result indeed. The structure of the wine is hidden somewhat by the exuberant fruit, yet it is that structure that will see this extraordinary wine cellar for the good part of half a century!

Reviews + Accolades Although this white 1er Cru Beaune has plenty of ripeness and creaminess, it also has bright lemon-curd character and pronounced chalky minerality that gives a wonderful, fine-grained texture. Long and very straight finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. - James Suckling, 93 Points. Whiffs of fresh churned butter and honey introduce this powerfully ripe, sun-drenched Chardonnay. The fleshy, voluminous wine shows the heat of the 2019 vintage through concentrated flavors of Meyer lemon and Mirabelle plum. Matured in oak casks for 14 to 18 months (with some new oak), the opulent, spicy sip should drink at peak from 2024 to 2035. - Wine Enthusiast, 93 Points. A wine that brings real depth and intensity, the 2019 Beaune 1er Cru Clos Des Mouches Blanc offers up a light gold hue as well as a terrific nose of grilled peach, honeyed stone fruits, toasted spices, and a kiss of background wood. This medium-bodied, nicely concentrated, textured 2019 has terrific overall balance, integrated acidity, and a great finish. It certainly surpasses the 2017 (which was the last vintage I tasted) and has loads to love. It should keep for a decade, but there's no need to delay gratification. - Jeb Dunnuck, 93 Points.

Sourced from two vineyard plots in the heart of the Chablis region, the wine is crafted with a respect for both the environment and traditional winemaking techniques. Using organic farming practices and native yeasts, this Chablis showcases the fresh, mineral character of the terroir, while also embracing the richness that comes with careful winemaking. The 2022 vintage is poised and complex, revealing a perfect balance of fruit, acidity, and minerality. Located at the crossroads of 47° North and 3° East, Guillaume’s estate is a true reflection of the region’s rich history and terroir. The vineyard, with its family legacy dating back to the 1960s, was originally planted by Guillaume’s grandfather in the village of Beines. His grandfather’s early commitment to quality plantings was instrumental in earning the village its Chablis appellation recognition. Now working on his own since 2018, Guillaume applies his meticulous approach to a small but precious selection of family-owned vines, producing wines that embody both tradition and innovation. His deep connection to the land and respect for its natural rhythms are at the core of every bottle produced at Domaine 47°N3°E. Philosophy: At Domaine 47°N3°E, winemaking is centered around respecting the terroir and embracing a minimal-intervention approach. Guillaume’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that the true expression of a wine comes from the soil and grape, not from excessive winemaking techniques. His vineyards are cultivated organically, with a focus on sustainability and maintaining the health of the land. Drawing inspiration from his internship with Nicolas Maillet in the Mâconnais, Guillaume uses native yeasts and avoids sulfur during fermentation, only adding a minimal amount at bottling. Each cuvée is crafted to showcase the unique character of the land, with the focus on balance and purity, allowing the wines to speak for themselves. Whether aged in stainless steel or oak demi-muids, each wine from Domaine 47°N3°E reflects the care and attention to detail that goes into every step of production, ensuring wines of exceptional quality and authenticity. Medium-bodied, it features a delicate balance of freshness, fine tannins, and a long, elegant finish. The wine’s lively acidity gives it a vivacious character, making it a joy to drink now, with plenty of potential for further development. Maker: Domaine Mee Godard is the result of the passion and vision of Mee Godard, an exceptional winemaker whose journey from South Korea to the heart of Beaujolais has defined the success of the estate. After studying winemaking in Burgundy, Mee was drawn to Morgon for its distinctive terroir, particularly the revered slopes of the Côte du Py. It was here that she established her domaine, with the goal of producing wines that authentically express the unique character of the land. Her approach to winemaking is one of minimal intervention, allowing the natural attributes of the vineyard to shine through. By focusing on organic viticulture and sustainable practices, she ensures that the wines retain their purity and complexity, allowing the full potential of the grapes to be realised. Mee’s philosophy revolves around crafting wines that are both elegant and expressive, embodying the perfect balance between tradition and innovation. She strives to create wines that reflect the essence of the Morgon terroir—wines that are complex, with both power and finesse, and that evolve gracefully over time. Her commitment to excellence is matched only by her respect for the land, and her dedication to sustainable viticulture ensures that each bottle of Domaine Mee Godard wine is a true reflection of the estate’s history, terroir, and vision. This hands-off approach allows the natural character of each vintage to flourish, creating wines that captivate with their depth, complexity, and refinement. Vineyard: Domaine Mee Godard's vineyard spans six hectares in the esteemed Morgon appellation, one of the most revered wine regions in Beaujolais. Located on the slopes of the Côte du Py, the vineyard enjoys an ideal terroir for growing Gamay and Chardonnay, the region’s signature grape varieties. The soil is primarily granite, with a mix of minerals that gives the wines their characteristic freshness and minerality. The vineyard benefits from the cooling influences of the Monts du Beaujolais, providing a climate that encourages slow ripening and retains the natural acidity of the grapes, which is crucial for producing wines of great balance and longevity. The vines at Domaine Mee Godard are predominantly over 60 years old, with deep roots that allow the plants to access the full richness of the soil. These older vines contribute to the wines’ complexity and depth, producing small yields of concentrated, flavorful fruit. The vineyard is farmed using organic principles, with an emphasis on soil health and minimal intervention. Mee Godard’s dedication to sustainability is evident in the vineyard’s management practices, ensuring that each vintage reflects the purity of the land. This commitment to maintaining the integrity of the terroir allows the wines of Domaine Mee Godard to showcase the full potential of Morgon’s unique, multifaceted terroir. Louis Roederer Vintage Rosé Champagne
Today Louis Roederer remains one of the very few remaining family owned Houses in Champagne with 7th generation Frederic Rouzaud at the helm. Louis Roederer Rosé Champagne 2015 is an extraordinary vintage which is also the year in which the Champagne region was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site! The first impression of the wine is of a generosity, softness and concentration. One has the sensation of biting into juicy, ripe fruit and blood orange, it is a fabulous aromatic explosion with luscious and slightly tangy overtones. The concentrated and dense body takes over and reinforces the impression of substance, of concentrated liqueur on the mid-palate. The finish stretches out, perfectly-honed, gradually revealing umami notes thanks to the precise and crisp mineral freshness. Note - the image of the gift box differs slightly.
