Abasolo El Whisky De Mexico Corn Whisky is crafted and distilled from 100% Mexican Cacahuazintle (kaka-wha-sint-lay) corn, which has been cultivated and passed down for more than 200 generations by local farmers for its distinct and extraordinary flavour. Abasolo uncovers the deepest flavours of this ancestral corn through nixtamalization, a 4,000-year-old cooking technique never before used in whisky production, but fundamental in preparing corn as food in Mexico. While American bourbon makers use at least 51% corn and a percentage of barley, the nixtamalization process allows Abasolo to use 100% corn to make whisky. The nixtamalization process also has a direct impact on flavour, causing the spirit to open up with more floral sweetness and warmth of the grain. Made from GMO-free corn this gluten-free whisky has deep, nuanced notes of roasted corn, honey, vanilla, black tea and leather. These flavours are developed from the ancestral corn through the nixtamalization process and these flavours are unlike any other whisky.

Sent in 1918 as young apprentice to Scotland by his Japanese employers to crack the secrets of Whisky, he not only came back with that knowledge but also with Rita Taketsuru (nee Cowan), who went on playing a decisive role in the development of the Japanese Whisky industry. Thanks to her connection to Japanese high society, Masataka was able to finance the company that is now known as Nikka Whisky. Forward a century later, Taketsuru 17 yo is awarded the Best Blended Whisky at the World Whisky awards 2012 and 2018, a fitting crown for this blend of Malts from the two Nikka distilleries, Yoichi and Miyagikyo.

In the 1830’s our Woodford County distillery was the setting for a series of discoveries and innovative practices that today define the bourbon industry. Today that pioneering and innovative tradition is embodied in the Woodford Reserve Distillery's Master's Collection. A tradition beginning when Master Distiller James Crow joined distillery owner Oscar Pepper to create the first true Kentucky bourbon whiskies. For this 2021 Master’s Collection release Master Distiller Chris Morris and Assistant Master Distiller, Elizabeth McCall have drawn upon that rich history and their own interests for inspiration. In Kentucky, a fermented grain mash is traditionally called “distiller’s beer”. Distillation converts this “beer” into a spirit that will become a “Whiskey” once barrelled. The result is the Fall 2021 Master’s Collection release named Five-Malt Stouted Mash, a rich and darkly robust expression of Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Malt Whiskey. A nose of roasted malt, toasted nuts, chocolate and orange leads to warm oak, cherry and shortbread. The pallet is malty with toasted hazelnut and cocoa highlights atop a layer of baked fruit, crisp spice and zest bounce about the depths and more malt and chocolate notes to finish.

These experts identify the optimal conditions for growing agaves in the Los Valles region, patiently waiting for at least 7 years until the agaves reach peak maturity. Once harvested, the agaves undergo a slow cooking process that lasts for over 30 hours. Large stone Tahonas, weighing 800 kilograms each, are then utilized to crush the cooked agaves. This age-old technique allows for the extraction and collection of the juice, preserving the authenticity and tradition of tequila production. The extracted juice, known as "mosto," then goes through a natural fermentation process. Unique wood and stainless steel tanks are utilized, and the fermentation is enriched by using leftover agave fibers from the tahonas. Native yeast is added to enhance the aromatic expression, resulting in a deeper and more nuanced flavor profile. The tequila is distilled in hand-built copper alembic pot stills of the highest quality. It undergoes a double distillation process, carefully monitoring the alcohol volume to achieve the desired smoothness that 818 Tequila is known for. To further enhance the character of the tequila, it is aged in superior oak barrels. The Reposado and Añejo expressions are aged in both American and French oak, allowing for a harmonious fusion of flavors. Komasa Gin is the craft gin label proudly presented by Komasa Jyozo, a shochu distillery in Kagoshima, Japan with over 130 years of distilling history. Gin and shochu both share the fact that they are distilled spirits. Drawing on decades of distilling expertise and know-how accumulated through making shochu, the distillery unveiled a new line of gins in 2018. Komasa Jyozo uses their rice shochu as the base for Komasa Gin, to which they add juniper berries and as few other ingredients as possible in order to let the main botanicals shine on their own. Komasa Jyozo’s goal is to utilize and express the natural fragrances and flavours of their quality ingredients to the fullest. The Michter's "US 1" bottlings are so named to honour Michter’s heritage. The brand was established in 1753 as America’s first whiskey company. Washington and his troops drank Michter’s while they were hunkered down in Valley Forge. Unlike Bourbon or Rye, which, by definition, must be aged in new oak barrels, our US1 Unblended American Whiskey is aged in a way that utilizes whiskey-soaked barrels to achieve a rich and unique flavor profile. In late 2013, then Master Distiller Willie Pratt agreed to re- release our US1 Unblended American Whiskey after a nearly three- year absence from the market, deeming it "just right" and "the best it's ever been." Crucially, our US1 Unblended American Whiskey never contains grain neutral spirits - hence its "unblended" distinction. This Whiskey has deep butterscotch and vanilla notes, hints of caramel and dried fruit with a ripened fruit finish.
