Forget everything you thought you knew about Spiced Rum! Far from the segments clichs, this is not one of those syrupy rums packed with sugar and colourings but rather an authentic rum, with very little added sugar (15g) and no colourings whatsoever. It is a rum from a blend of Dominican Republic (approx. 80%) & Venezuela (approx. 20%), slowly infused with black pepper, ginger, liquorice, vanilla, nutmeg etc for 2 weeks. The rum obtained after maceration is thus naturally spiced and fruity. Whether sipping it on its own or mixing it in a cocktail, it is simply delicious! Tasting Notes: Visual Aspect: COMPAGNIE DES INDES? spiced rum is a deep and powerful light gold colour. It results mostly from the maceration of real botanicals and spices in the rum. The colour in your glass is thus completely natural. Nose: Balanced between the sweetness from the notes of nutmeg, vanilla and the touch of cinnamon and the spicy powerful side with the notes of ginger, pepper and the touch of citruses. It is intoxicating and shows a strong character. Taste: The word Spiced makes complete sense here with first this balanced sweetness soon making way for the citruses and spices such as ras el Hanout and cloves, building up to woody and warming notes of liquorice, tonka bean, vanilla and some vegetal aromas (Thyme, coriander etc?). This vintage Cognac comes from a family of public notaries who has been located close to the city of Cognac for many generations. This Petite Champagne was part of the inheritance of the father, who had bequeathed his stocks of Cognac to his wife and his son, who was public notary like him. The father has bought this batch on January 1974 to one of his clients, who was at the time the President of one of the most important Cognac Houses. Unfortunately, when the father passed away, his wife and his son were in disagreement and the succession was blocked until we propose a solution. This is a very “sentimental” cognac, stored under State control since the 25th of January 1974, in a very humid cellar located on the bank of the Charente river in the city center of Cognac. This cellar is today the Cognac Museum. The harvest 1973 was abundant ( 62% compared to the harvest 1972 in Petite Champagne!) and was qualified of “harvest of the century” at the time. Warm gold colour, with amber lights. The nose is rich and unctuous; ripe fruits, dark-red plums, Mirabelle plums, spices (curcuma, cardamom, pepper) and sandalwood, cedar scents. Surrounding the fruits, the lovely old rancio nose that well-matured Cognac develops. The taste increase the fruity delicacies (plums again, dark chocolate with cinnamon) and the spicy side (tobacco, nutmeg). At the end, slightly bitter as coffee beans, complexity and elegancy of a controlled rancio.

The kabutogama still is an old method of distillation that was popular until the late 19th century and the owner Mr. Tatsumi is dedicated to reviving this method through his patience and expertise. His passion for creating unique and authentic spirits is gaining recognition from industry peers and consumers alike. Tatsumi, the owner of Tatsumi Distillery, has created an exceptional craft gin using only one botanical, Juniper berry sourced from northern Macedonia, known for its high quality. The juniper berries found in North Macedonia are distinct due to the unique natural terroir, which results in a high concentration of essential oils. These berries grow wild on high mountain slopes that are unpolluted and pristine, making them the ideal choice for crafting the world's finest gin. Tatsumi Distillery Gin is distilled from two different Shochu bases, Sake Lees Shochu & Chicory Shochu, using the traditional Kabutogama still. To ensure consistency, Tatsumi Distillery Gin is handmade in small batches of less than 500 bottles. Tatsumi Distillery Gin has a woody taste similar to that of coniferous trees, along with a subtle hint of citrus and a fruity aroma reminiscent of Ginjo-Sake. The palate is dominated by the clear flavour of juniper berry, which is pleasantly spicy. The aftertaste is complex and rich, with a depth that comes from the carefully selected base spirits.
