Whistler Wines is owned by the Pfeiffer family, with brothers Martin and Chris at the helm. (Martin had run the Penfolds vineyards back in the 1980s). The next generation, brothers Josh and Sam Pfeiffer, joined them in 2013, introducing new wine styles and a drive towards sustainabilty.

Ken Gargett, WinePilot adds that it is "Stunning stuff... A silky palate, very long and seamless with soft and sleek tannins. An enticing style which is utterly delicious. 96pts".

Schild Estate Narrow Road Barossa Valley Shiraz

Relish a “magnificent Shiraz" (Wine Orbit) from the Barossa Valley and the Schild Estate's Narrow Road Vineyard, with scores of 93, 94, 95 and 96pts. Ray Jordan WinePilot calls it "a generous wine with excellent structure... Bursts with all manner of dark ripe berry characters from the first take on the nose through to the opulent concentrated palate." Dave Brookes in The Halliday Wine Companion gives it 94pts. "Dark berry compote and blueberry with hints of clove, bay leaf, roasting meats, licorice, dark chocolate, cedar and earth. A modern style with pure fruit leading the way, fine, powdery tannins in support and a long, velvet-like finish.” Sam Kim admires its "... excellent concentration, combined with velvety texture and multi-layered mouthfeel, finishing impressively long and satisfying. 96pts” (Sam Kim, Wine Orbit).

"... packed with ripe Doris plum, black cherry and boysenberry fruit notes. Hints of dried cranberry, baking spice, licorice, fruit-and-nut chocolate, tapenade, violets and roasting meats. Full bodied, with compact, powdery tannins and some fine acidity. Nice red plum notes flow in on the palate, adding detail and a few lumens to the ripe fruit on show. Long finish too.95pts.” (Dave Brookes, The Halliday Wine Companion). The Schild Estate can boast Shiraz vines planted by Ann Jacobs in 1847. The Schild's first arrived in Australia in 1866, and the family moved to the Barossa and purchased vineyards here in 1952. They did not make their first 'Schild' branded wine until 1998, but the estate's reputation grew steadily. Although no longer owned by the family, the estate's vineyards are all still under the family's control.
