It's made by the talented John Quarisa, who has enjoyed a “distinguished career as a winemaker spanning over 20 years” (Halliday). John likes his wines to express big personality and juicy fruit and value for money – he’s certainly achieved that here! Ripe and round blackberries conspire with flavours of plum and cinnamon spice. On the palate, rich red berries and brewed coffee make for a very appealing wine.

When former WWII fighter pilot Doug Collett purchased the Woodstock vineyard in 1973, he took ownership of some of McLaren Vale’s oldest Shiraz and Grenache vines, dating back over a century. Ever since, three generations of the Collett family have produced characterful wines that capture the region’s vibrant heritage. This Shiraz is a prime example, with layers of generous dark fruit and warming spice. Named for the road that winds through the family’s historic estate, it’s rich and approachable, effortlessly showcasing the beauty of well-crafted McLaren Vale Shiraz.

Bernoota was the original name of the Lake Breeze homestead and now the Bernoota Shiraz Cabernet is rightfully considered to be one of Australia's favourite Shiraz Cabernet blends. And they don't come much better than Bernoota for the price! Not only is it rich and luscious, filled with blackcurrant, spice and pepper, it has a touch of dark chocolate on the finish. The 2009 is a 60% Shiraz and 40% Cabernet blend and spends 20 months in a mixture of French and American Oak that will see the wine not only be enjoyable now, but develop beautifully in the bottle for a further 8 to 10 years.
