Famous for their popular and flavoursome Sauvignon Blanc, Giesen produce an enticing and pure Riesling from the same region, Marlborough. Displaying notes of citrus, white flowers and ginger on the nose, this attractive off-dry Riesling shows subtle sweet flavours of lemon curd, mandarin and orange peel. The fruit is from a Kirrihill owned vineyard in Watervale called “Slate Creek”, planted in the 1970’s. As you guessed, the vines are sitting on slate, which gives incredible results, the fruit has great concentration of flavour and minerality on the palate. The 2025 season was excellent for Riesling, we are super happy with how the wines are shaping up. The vines maintained very healthy canopies throughout the dry summer, and the vineyard team kept up with consistent and generous irrigation to meet the perfect ripening conditions. Picking at cool temperatures and quick transportation will avoid picking up colour, oxidation, maceration and therefore loss of quality, flavour and acidity.

An elegant fragrant wine displaying floral spice and lime flavours. The fresh lingering acidity makes it a perfect match with seafood and Asian cuisine.

Well known for his Barossa Valley Red wines, Kym Teusner is equally at home producing lifted aromatic white wines from hand selected vineyards high in the Eden Valley. His The Empress Riesling comes from a block near Keyneton (about 400m above sea level) and from the Southern Eden Valley adjacent to the High Eden. Both parcels are handled differently with the Keyneton handled oxidatively to had textural notes and shape and the Southern fruit kept clean to offer racing acidity and vibrant citrus notes. A perfect balance.
