Metaxa Private Reserve Brandy

They say that to be Mediterranean is to have a different attitude. Certainly this claim is reflected in Metaxa. When speaking of this unique spirit, we should not merely consider it a brandy, for while it is produced from grapes, its similarities to brandy end there. Metaxa was first created by a silk trader named Spyros Metaxas who in 1882 built a distillation's factory in the city Chyphisia in the Attica region near Athens. A blend of Savatiano, Sultanina and Black Corinth grapes are employed in its production. These are twice distilled to 60% Alc./Vol., then reduced with aged muscat wine from Samos & Lemnos. Further blending continues utilising a mix of botanicals including anise and rose-petals. Then finally, the spirit is married in limousine oak casks. Metaxa is generally available in three versions: Three Star, Five Star, and Seven Star. Each star represents one year spent in oak. The product has earned world recognition for its quality, colour and taste and is distinguished as the most famous Greek spirit worldwide, over and above ouzo. Now in Australia, a selection of Super Premium Metaxa bottlings are available including the much sought after Private Reserve. This limited production spirit consists of fine distillates aged up to thirty years from Metaxa's family casks and is the high point of the Metaxa range. No tasting notes available. 40% Alc./Vol.

White Oak Eigashima Sherry Finish Blended Japanese Whisky

White Oak Distillery have released two new limited editions for 2020 to celebrate the 101st anniversary of their licence to distill. It's not the first time the distillery has highlighted the fact that they were licensed before Kotobukiya (Suntory) and Nikka. However they didn't actually build Japan's first whisky distillery. That was left to Yamazaki. White Oaks new blend and single malt are both sherry matured and named after the parent company. Suitably, the presentation is reminiscent of a century ago, featuring the old Eigashima logo and trademark. The blend is made from 100% UK malt and grain whiskies, finished in sherry casks and bottled at 50% Alc./Vol. Located in the city of Akashi in Hyogo Prefecture, west of Kobe, the White Oak distillery was founded by Eigashima Shuzo - a Sake and Shochu producer since 1888. Despite an early license to manufacture whisky, it was only when the company moved to their current facilities in 1984 that White Oak Distillery was born. The stills here are in operation for just a few month’s of the year, so production is minuscule. Since 2017 Eigashima ceased making Shochu to re-focus their energy into making whisky. They're now working six days a week from April through to July in order to maximise output. Currently there are around 1200 casks ageing at White Oak, the oldest stocks being around eight years old. Most of the maturation is done in first fill Bourbon casks (ex Wild Turkey) and new Sherry casks. However, the warehouse holds everything from refill American to re-charred Shochu casks, Cognac casks, Tequila Casks and even some very special locally coopered casks made from Konara - often reserved for ageing Shochu.

Patrón Añejo Tequila

Patrón Añejo is delicate blend of uniquely aged tequilas. All the tequilas are aged in small white oak barrels for a minimum 12 months. As in many premium red wines, the blends must be adjusted for each vintage. The same care and attention is paid when blending Patrón Añejo making it smooth, distinctive and extraordinary.

Glendronach 50 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The GlenDronach is borne of the landscape and natural ingredients that surround, from the soft Highland water drawn from the underwater springs in the Balnoon hills to the Scottish malted barley sourced from their trusted partners. Established in 1826 by James Allardice the Glendronach distillery was one of the first licensed distilleries in Scotland. The hallmark of the distillery is the marriage of robust Highland spirit with the finest Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks from Andalucia in Spain. This dynamism brings exceptional depth, complexity, and character to their whiskies. Distilled in 1971, this 50 year old expression represents a milestone in the near two-hundred-year history of The GlenDronach Distillery and is the oldest single malt GlenDronach has ever released. This Glendronach 50 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky has matured patiently over five decades in rare Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, from the Spanish bodegas of Jerez in Andalucía and has developed its deep natural colour over time from the Spanish oak in which it has rested. Personally selected by Master Blender Rachel Barrie, these exquisite casks have been married for a final maturation in a single PX cask. Only a small number of casks are chosen to reach such a celebrated age, with just 198 bottles released worldwide. Every bottle of The GlenDronach Aged 50 years has been hand-numbered and is presented in a luxurious, genuine leather case accompanied by an embossed leather booklet detailing the distillery history, tasting notes, and unique craft. Bottle No. 1 of The GlenDronach Aged 50 Years was proudly donated to the inaugural Distillers’ One of One Auction in December 2021, raising over $75,000. At 50 Years Old, this whisky is bottled at its natural cask strength of 43.8%, it is exceptionally rich and seductive, with mellow layers of alluring complexity. On the nose, ripe dark cherry and plum are the preludes to the harmony of rolling stone fruit, while the palate brings an exquisite overture of flavour with dense undertones of dark chocolate, tobacco, and cocoa. Nose - Brooding, Tobacco, Bramble Leading with ripe dark maraschino cherry and plum, developing into stone fruits. Exotic gentian and smouldering tobacco and sage stick. Top notes of bramble, orange, and cranberry throughout. Palate - Dark Chocolate, Luxurious Plum & Cherry Dense undertones of dark chocolate, tobacco, and cocoa carry over on the palate. Figs, plums and chocolate pralines and deep umami complexity in the mid palate. Finish - Velvety, Cigar Box, Chocolate Truffle Pine needles, oranges peel lift. Espresso notes, buttery pie crust, velvety dark chocolate for a long conclusion.

Situated on the remote Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland, Ardbeg Distillery has been producing exceptional single malt whiskies since 1815. Known for its distinctive peaty and smoky flavour profile, Ardbeg whiskies have gained a loyal following among whisky enthusiasts worldwide. The small, remote Scottish island of Islay (pronounced 'eye-lah') is an antique land. A wild and untamed place, where Celtic monks found refuge from raiding Norsemen and early distillers smuggled their illicit "aquavitae" at Ardbeg's rugged rocky cove. Abundant soft water, fertile soil and acres of precious peat makes this island a place of pilgrimage for the single malt whisky faithful. And none more so than our very own Ardbeg, unquestionably the greatest distillery on Earth. For over 200 years, Ardbeg has been made on Islay. Some people travel to Ardbeg along the winding road from Port Ellen. Others follow their nose, their destiny or the advice of a good friend. The Distillery: Ardbeg's distillation process involves two stages to produce a high-quality spirit. The first distillation in the wash still results in "low wines" at about 24% alcohol. The second distillation in the spirit still raises the alcohol content to 76%, with initial impurities (foreshots) removed and only the purest spirit, starting the Spirit Cut, is selected for maturation. This spirit is collected until it reaches 62.5% alcohol, with any remaining impurities sent back for further distillation. Ardbeg's whisky matures in a mix of casks, including ex-Bourbon barrels, Sherry Butts, and French Oak, which contribute to its distinct salty, iodine character due to its coastal location.
