Mark Lloyd of Coriole planted Sangiovese in his McLaren Vale vineyards in the mid 1980s and in 1999 he famously won the inaugural Australian Sangiovese Awards – a precursor to the Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show, where this delicious 2016 Sangiovese won Gold! It has beautiful bright spiced cherry and plum fruit, with a savoury touch of herbs and spice. It's a terrific food wine - try it with your best Italian pasta dish.

This wine is light in style, packed with juicy raspberry and strawberry fruit flavours, refreshing natural acidity and soft silky tannins.

In the glass: Dark red. On the nose: Chery berry fruit, herb and cumin spice. On the palate: Ripe, juicy and generous with sweet, fleshy dark cherry and red plum fruit, some confectionery notes, sweet earth, cola, liquorice and milk chocolate - deliciously savoury.

Since 1912 the Osborn family have tended vineyards in McLaren Vale, South Australia. Today, fourth generation family member Chester makes distinctive wines using traditional and sustainable methods in the vineyard and winery. Small batches of grapes undergo 10 days of carbonic maceration, then are gently crushed and immediately drained to finish fermentation in stainless steel. Stranded starfish have no place to hide. Salmon pink in colour with a delicate fragrance of fresh strawberries and raspberries. Ripe red fruit flavours fill the palate with just an off-dry level of residual sugar. A perfect luncheon rose.

One of the earliest and most condensed in history thanks largely to a dry and warm growing season. A very wet July was followed by some of the driest spring months on record, led to some great flavour and colour development and the resulting wines are packed with delicious ripe flavours.
