Sourced from two parcels planted in the 1990s—one near Chassagne, the other close to “Les Cortons”—this 0.56-hectare site delivers both structure and charm. It's also the first plot picked each vintage, capturing bright acid and perfect fruit ripeness. Vinified with Colin’s light-touch approach—whole bunch pressed, minimal sulphur, no bâtonnage or fining—this wine is all about finesse. The nose opens with ripe citrus, green apple, and hints of flint and spice. On the palate, juicy white orchard fruit is lifted by stony drive and a thread of marzipan richness. Product Description: Stone fruit and salinity from one of Saint-Aubin’s elevated 1er Crus. The 2023 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru “Sur le Sentier du Clou” from Joseph Colin is a tightly composed, mineral-driven Chardonnay shaped by altitude, limestone, and restraint. Grown on white clay-limestone soils just above the hamlet of Gamay, this parcel borders some of Saint-Aubin’s finest sites, and the fruit reflects that pedigree with clarity and finesse. This vintage delivers a crystalline, fluid style—glossy yet not overripe, with aromas of white peach, green apple, and grapefruit oil. The palate mirrors that brightness, layering stone fruit with a chalky, saline thread and a finish that lingers on smoked minerality. As always, Colin avoids bâtonnage and fining, using only minimal sulphur at bottling to preserve the wine’s tension and detail. Best enjoyed from 2025–2029, or now with a short decant. It channels the energy of young vines and a limestone-rich slope into a Chardonnay that’s satiny, fresh and expressive. Part of Joseph’s compact, high-quality domaine, this cuvée reflects both his disciplined winemaking and the vitality of Saint-Aubin’s rising status. Made with minimal intervention and raised in 350-litre barrels for 12 months, followed by a short stint in stainless, this is all about purity and lift. Product Description: Seven plots, one voice—Saint-Aubin with detail and drive. Domaine Joseph Colin’s 2023 Saint-Aubin 'Compendium' is a blend of seven lieux-dits across the appellation, designed to express the full range of what Saint-Aubin can deliver in a single bottle. The name means “synthesis,” and it fits—this is a Chardonnay of clarity, subtle power and quiet complexity. Grown on limestone-rich soils and made with minimal intervention—no bâttonage, no fining, no sulphur until bottling—the wine is fermented in 350-litre oak barrels and aged briefly in stainless steel for added definition. The result? A focused, linear expression with notes of orange citrus, Granny Smith apple, flint and a saline twist. A slight herbal and chalky lift rounds it out, with tension that’s unmistakably Saint-Aubin. Drink now with a short decant or cellar until 2029. Louis Latour Chassagne-Montrachet

The home of truly elegant, yet powerful Chardonnay is without question, Chassagne-Montrachet. When you marry the unique terroir of this ancient site and the winemaking expertise of Louis Latour domaine, the result is the rich and engaging white wine. Complex flavours of peach and nectarine flow across the palate which finishes with a minerality the envy of most Chardonnay producers. Wonderfully attractive when young - buoyant and lively - yet will age for more than a decade to reveal toasty, textured buttered notes.

Domaine du Pelican Arbois Savagnin Ouillé

This is the emblematic vine of Jura. In Jura, Savignin is mostly used to produce vin jaune, an oxydative wine which has made Jura famous. Domaine du Pélican produces a non-oxydative cuvée (topped up during elevage in the barrel to avoid oxydation, hence called "Savagnin Ouille"). The Savagnin vine belongs to the Traminer family. Since its birth in Montigny-lès-Arsures in 2012, Domaine du Pélican has rapidly established itself as one of Juras leading lights, producing exceptional biodynamic wines that mix finesse with thrilling Jurassien character. The project was born in Taillevent Paris where Guillaume dAngerville, proprietor of the great Volnay estate Marquis dAngerville, was served blind a bottle of Jura Chardonnay from the 2005 vintage. Struck by its quality, Guillaume was taken a back to discover the wine was not from Meursault, let alone anywhere in the Côte dOr. This moment proved the trigger for an exciting new project. Several Jura visits and tastings later and Guillaume was convinced to buy land there. He sought the help of respected Jura geologist Yves Hérody to find the best vineyard sites, a journey which took three years and culminated in a deal with the Château de Chavannes in Montigny-lès-Arsures in 2012 to purchase and lease five hectares. Jean-Marc Brignot sold him another five hectares shortly afterwards and finally in 2014 five hectares were leased from retiring Jura legend Jacques Puffeney. The estate is managed by Guillaumes Volnay Régisseur and partner in Domaine du Pélican, François Duvivier, who runs a team permanently based in the Jura. The vines are between Arbois and Montigny. Vitally all 15 hectares are within 2km of each other, the same as in Volnay, this allows the estate to grow the vineyards bio-dynamically for which some of the necessary treatments need to be made within two hours of preparation. The plots are among Juras finest, the very best being En Barbi and Grand Curoulet. The terroirs here, a mix of marly clay and gravels with varying exposures from north to south, are even more complex than in Burgundy. Whilst a broadly Burgundian approach is employed to wine-making, there is no doubting the individuality and Jurassien personality of the wines. The dAngerville approach in the cellar has always been light-touch, one which is toned down even more for Domaine du Pélican, little new oak is used and élévage is shorter, lasting twelve months as opposed to eighteen in Volnay. Tanks and foudres are employed for ageing the reds, 500 litre casks for the Savagnin and traditional Burgundian barriques for the Chardonnay. The whites are both topped up as opposed to the more common oxidative Jura method. The rigour and investment of the Marquis dAngerville, local know-how and great terroir is proving a potent combination, for these are some of the most Juras most exciting and complex wines.

Bannockburn S.R.H. Chardonnay

This is Bannockburn's flagship white wine, and it's again in imperious form. Named for Bannockburn founder Stuart Reginald Hooper, the SRH Chardonnay uses fruit sourced from just 12 rows of their oldest Chardonnay vines at Olive Tree Hill Vineyard. Here the vines have roots deeply embedded in the ancient marine sediments that form the bedrock in this area, resulting in its signature minerality year after year. This distinct minerality perfectly balances the luscious, golden, powerful fruit that these few vines produce. It's a show-stopping wine and a must for lovers of iconic Australian Chardonnay. By Farr Chardonnay

Gary Farr is still one of Victoria's true Chardonnay maestro's and his Chardonnay By Farr is another example. Taken from the original By Farr vineyard, this is a clearly a wine of true clarity and finesse. Flavours of melon and hints of spice with wonderful oak integration mean this wine is simply delicious upon release, but handle some careful medium-term cellaring.
