Traditional signature product from Moutai. Reminiscent of no other, its taste and aroma includes tropical fruits and pear, smoky nuts and sweet plums. Clear in colour like water but powerful and complex in flavours, very floral and perfume like aroma with hints of pineapple, guava and kiwi fruit on the nose. Smoky note in the mid palate tropical fruits, white flowers and hints of herbaceous combined for a long finish.

The freshness of this wine demonstrates why Hunter semillon is possibly the most under-rated wine style in the world. The aromas centre around lemon, lime and fresh hay, and the palate is decidedly linear, based on a spine of acidity. This exceptional wine, at six years of age, is still at least five away from its optimum drinking window. Penfolds Yattarna Chardonnay displays an initial bouquet of slate and wet stone, with nuances of lightly roasted almonds. Subtle hints of citrus, shrouded by nectarine and nashi pear fruits. On the palate, a spiced multi-citrus compote with a very delicate acidity. Balanced and will develop exceptionally well with cellaring.

Released with bottle age this is a wine which will still continue to evolve over many years the toasty lemony flavours becoming richer and more intense. A classic benchmark Hunter Semillon, it has earned its place in the Langtons Classification of Australian Wine.
