This is the second release of Penfolds French Winemaking Trial, a wine sourced from exceptional vineyards across Bordeaux using time proven Penfolds techniques. Anchored by a philosophy of selecting grapes and blending quality wines to a House Style, FWT 585 continues to propel Penfolds into its future. A celebration of one of Abbey Estate’s finest blocks; the Cabernet fruit for this wine was first planted in 1995, our team fell in love with the quality of the grapes ten years ago and so crafted the first Block 95. We’ve been making it ever since. Dark red with purple hues. Aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, bramble, and dried herbs. Palate of persistent black fruit with subtle leaf and herbal undertones. Serious character with notable length and structure.

Bouquet - It displays inviting scents of blackcurrants with hints of plums and herbaceous notes.<br>Flavour - On the palate it has particularly rounded fruit, underpinned by velvety tannins and with great length and persistence.<br>Recommended With - It is suitable for savory pasta dishes, red meat and fresh cheese.<br>Serving Temperature - 16 – 18 degrees C

Released from the cellar, the Koonunga Hill Shiraz has evolved into a smooth, rich wine that shows the benefits of time. The once-bright red-berried fruit has softened into darker, more savoury notes with hints of spice and earth. Its plush character remains. The tannins, now beautifully integrated, give the wine a silky texture and gentle finish. A classic South Australian Shiraz that’s matured gracefully while retaining its signature generosity.

The Block 5 sub-section of the Kidman vineyard sits at the northern end of the celebrated Coonawarra growing region. This part of the district ripens earlier than the south, making it very well suited to Shiraz. With its classic Terra Rossa over Limestone soils, the mature vines on this vineyard produce exceptional and highly sophisticated cool climate Shiraz, which is approachable in its youth but also eminently cellar-worthy.

19 Crimes turned criminals into colonists. Upon conviction, British rogues, guilty of at least one of the 19 Crimes, were sentenced to live in Australia, rather than death. The 19 Crimes Shiraz is full of flavours of raspberries, dark plums, and chocolate. Plush tannins provide a lingering finish.

The Tate name is synonymous with Margaret River after John Tate helped create arguable the regions most well-known winery, Evans & Tate. Today, Franklin Tate has brought the Tate name back to life with new, exciting terroir driven wines. Franklin painstakingly selected the very best vineyard sites, those that held unique micro-sites within them to enable him to achieve his goal of producing some of the regions best wines. This Shiraz was picked at optimum ripeness and fermented with 10% whole bunch. French barriques were used in the fermentation process to give a softness to the palate, as was a small percentage of Viognier. The result is a great Margaret River Shiraz with grounded savoury notes along with ripeness and spicy lift.

Award winning wines have been the modus operandi for the Tate family since the mid-70s. That pedigree and know-how can be tasted in this bottle of hand crafted Margaret River Cabernet Merlot. Regional notes of bay leaf, eucalypt and dry, tannins are supported by a lush and vibrant blue and black fruit backbone that continues on the palate for what seems like a lifetime. Absolutely delicious.
